Default The B1 that wasn't

Right at the beginning of the programme that produced the B1 bomber this picture was released in the mid 60s showing what was in the minds of planners in the USAF.

I had to have a model of it and the excellent team at Nice Airplanes have just completed one. I hope to receive it in a week or two.

The model is pure fantasy as no original models were made. However, it is wearing the late 60s SIOP scheme.

That is awesome- looks almost like an F-111. Definitely post more photos when you get it.

Very nice model. Do you happen to know the scale of this model? Thank you.

The model is about 1-72 scale so it should fit in with my diecast SAC and RAAF F-111s as well as my kit bought F-111Ks

I am posting the pics I got sent from Nice Airplanes, thugh they are still in gloss. The finished model will be varnished matt.

My digital camera work is hindered by poor lighting at home and lack of connection to the Net, so have not posted my own pics. Hope to solve this one.

Interesting, but it just looks like they grafted a couple of B-52 pods onto an F-111 cockpit with a B-66 fuselage. Why didn't we make more interesting planes like the British?

I agree as it happens that my AMSA is not especially pretty (the B1 Lancer is much prettier) but I love early 60s stuff and I just had to see what this would look like

A stunner Ralph! Good for you! Nothing like getting something esoteric and unknown to most.
Until today, I'd never heard or seen this concept.

Best,
Herb

Thanks for the support. I like this sort of stuff and Nice Airplanes have been very good.

Also Builderscience are finishing my latest batch of little SSTs. I will post some pics here.
