Cool Experimental Runway Foils

I got some new models from Munich a few days back and I thought about building another model airport to display them! I decided to start with a good runway foil. There were many ways to do this and in the end I decided to try out using Google Earth Imagery for my runway. The runway I used was Vancouver International's 26L. It took a long time to piece the images together and weather them but in the end I think I have a pretty near-photoreal runway! In the future I'll try and get my hands on some HD textures and make a larger version. Tell me what you think: (The runway lines are mostly hand drawn back on and weathered, as the originals were too blurry...)

It looks very nice, a bit small, but I would like to see it a bit bigger if you can..

Really nice. Put the files up here when done so other builders can use them...

Thanks for all the comments! The only problem with doing larger scales is the imagery I have is too low resolution to expand further. I'll try and stitch some pieces together and see what I can do!

Cool Runway Version 2

Okay....here's Runway Foil Version 2. I've expanded the runway a lot now....it should fit 1:500 scale comfortably if printed 100% size. The lines are all reworked and nothing is left of the original satellite image except for the base texture. I've weathered them so if you don't notice the editing then good!

Congratulations for having this done successfully! I've always wanted to do it, but my patience wouldn't allow me.

Hope to see the results soon!
