Default Princess Juliana International Airport Foil

Hi guys,

Im currently building up a foil of Princess Juliana International Airport((IATA: SXM, ICAO: TNCM)). Using a new technique hopefully it will work out and not give me too much pain :S.

I want to get it in all scales 1:200 1:400 and 1:500.
But its going to be pretty big, so i am thinking probably to cut a section out after the 6th taxiway onto the runway (left to right) from 09 side, and reduce the length of the remaining runway. Probably thinking to use some sort of google mapping to fill surrounding area's what do you guys think?

From below i don't know which design is right. i would think the google maps one would be. unless there were upgrades to the airport after the google image was taken. Maybe i should edit my design a bit to match the image from google, ie remove the taxiway parralell to runway

The runway numbers are no longer 9/27. They are now 10/28.

The Runway at Princess Juliana International Airport Runway Change to Runway

I think your best bet is going with the google maps version because the taxiway running parallel to the runway (towards the 28 side) doesn't seem to exist anymore.

Good luck Looking forward to updates

2nd one is the goer I think, also remove some of the touchdown zone markings as per the aerial shot. Will look great when its done.

Hmm... I don't see the current terminal in that birds eye view. Are you doing the old SXM?

Well that looks like a great idea! Will you do the buildings, too? That would be a great alternative to buying Herpa's plastic stuff :P

Lol I thought I mentioned it about the scales ,... Yes hopefully I will.. It's a huge project.. So it will take quite a while.. So far it's looking 34 times 12 slides of 1280 x 860 pixels.. So that's a 2 gigabyte picture hopefully in scale it will com down..

hi,

Looks great, I also have that issue that the foil will be to big.
I'm making Las Vages int. airport. i'll have to create something else to get everything fixed on my table. As far as now i'm still cleaning out all the planes and cars that are on the map.

Oh vegas sounds good.. But I'm not doing it from google maps... I got my base runway n taxis done.. Now just time to apply realistic textures to them.. And any intl airport is too big...

When you scale this up, those taxi lines are gonna be WAY too big and overpowering. Make them at LEAST 3/4 to 7/8 skinnier than they are now to add some realism.

Also, if you want to make it EXACTLY like SXM, 28 only has 1000' markers (thick blocks) after the piano keys, and 10 has two-stripe 1500' and 2000' markers, and single stripe 2500' and 3000' tdz markers. Your rendering only shows single stripe markers past the 1000' markers

Ok noted dylan, a bit technicall but yes it will be skinnier the top photo shot was way zoomed out thats why it looks like that, about the striping i guess ill folow the google maps pattern
