Question Accurate Scale Measurements

Question for the group...

I am beginning to wonder if my math skills are up to snuff or not. I am trying to determne accurate scales for a 1:400 airport. According to my calculations, in 1:400 scale, one inch should equal about 17 feet.

Is this correct? Has anyone done a scale conversion? Any help would be appreciated.

Steve

Lets see here:

1 inch in scale equals 400 inches in the real world.

400 inches divided by 12 inches per foot equals:

400

/ 12
_____

33 feet, 4 inches per inch in scale.

About 10 feet per third of inch.

Or, as I like to think of it, 8mm equals just about 10 feet, six inches.

(8mm is the stud to stud distance in Legos ...)
