I made my airport by painting a simple sheet of plywood with paint, then used some colored pencils for the lines/details. For the tire marks, I drew a a few thin lines, then smudged it with a finger.

nice, pencil colors work on you because your work is over wood, my base is a plastic table.

Try using auto stripes in yellow. They can be purchased at an auto supply store or online. They come thin enough for good looking taxiway markings. They are also flexible enough to use with any curved taxiway lines. It does take a little practice to make them straight and not tear them. They work well on plastic.

Painting the surface and using pin stripe is the best way if you're not photoshop or illustrator savvy. I might add that applying a clear gel medium over the pin stripe helps to keep them in place since they have a tendency to lift over time.

problem resolved, found yellow electrical tape and cut into thinner pieces using a cutter.

Use a computer...
Paint, pens, tape or other things can never be really good (if you are not a professional artist) as a computer made foil. Even if you can't use a computer.
