Default Foils for download

I have zipped my foils which are adapted and preperated from GSE's foils. They ar created by using the draw funtions in Word. I have tested them with Word 97/2000/2003 and latest version of Open Office.

Print them on a colorlaser - and they will fit scale 1:400. For scale 1:500 print them in approx 85% of original size. All HP printers I have tested them on, offer scalable printing.

For an everlasting result, use HP rough paper (HP part.no.Q1298B) which is a kind of plastic paper. The printouts have to be cut using a hi-quality paper cutting device such as Fiskars.

They can be fixed to for instance an mdf-board or an equivalent using an adhesive made for floor covering. Surplus adhesive can be washed away using a moist clothe.

I have included all foils made for my own project - You may figure out by Yourself how they can possibly fit Your project. Once You get into it, they can easily be edited to Your personal preferences.

Download here: http://lissies.gotdns.com/airport/download/foils.zip
Filesize: 1092 kB.

Don't see nuthin'. Would be better if you can convert them to JPEG, GIF, or PDF format.

Default How to open foils

The foils are made using Microsoft Word, but they can also be used with the the free alternative, OpenOffice. The wordprocessor in OpenOffice is compatible with word-files. I could probably convert them to an imageformat, but as long as they are kept in their original format, they are vectorized and scale almost perfectly when printed in another size. If they are converted to bitmap, they will most probably look awful, and will loose their ability to be scaled.

Also the general idea with these foils is that it should be easy for anyone with a Word compatible wordprocessor to develop them further, or manipulate them to their personal needs.

The reason the drawings does'nt show in Wordpad, is that Wordpad lacks the drawing functionality from Word.

If they are vectorial images... it is possible change it to PSD or PSP format?

I'm intrigued to have a look at them, but when I try to uncompress the file it says "unknown compression method", and if I try to open the documents straigt from within the zip folder it won't do anything. Any tips anybody?? Perhaps anyone that has downloaded them could recompress for the rest of us??

Thanks

I have now rezipped them to be compatible with older versions of winzip.
Have a new try - use the same download-link.

Also after unzip the file you need a software for view the file.
If you don't have MS-Office and Word Pad produced and error try with "Open Office".
Free full version in the official website.

Did You succeed using Open Office ?

In some cases the "tiles" on the far left and far right of the foil may be misplaced in open office. If so, they can just be deleted since they in most cases will be cut away with a paper cutting device for perfect fit with the "neigbour" foil.

Remember to print in approx 85% of original size for 1:500 scale. Most HP printers offers this driver-function.

Some of the taxiway-foils are made with a grass-texture, but there are also versions without grass in the zip-file named *_uten_gress.doc. That's Norwegian for "without grass"

Some of the foils are a bit special for my project, specially the foils used around the tower area.

Also remeber to change the gate-number on the parking foils to avoid all gates having the same number, or delete the gatenumber if You prefer not to use it.

Thanks for sharing your foils! Downloaded them this afternoon without any problems! These are very creative and helpful. They gave me the inspiration to attempt making some of my own foils using some of your work.

It is always a pleasure when someone shares something positive!

Like to see more pics of your layout?

Default For those of You Struggling to open the foils

Not all of You have MS-office or Open Office installed.
The foils can also be viewed and printed, but not edited, using the free Wordviewer.

The foils work with both the Word97 and the Word2003 viewers, but the 2003 version can not be installed on older windows versions.

Download here:

Word 97 viewer

Word 2003 viewer

Very clean, he did a great job on them. You might want to look at your Cookie settings or your Text settings if you can't see them!

If You are having problems to open the files, then You probably do not have MS-Word or Open-Office installed. I then recomend to download and install one of the abovementioned word viewers.

its one of those huge stand-up lasers that prints off a roll of paper thats 3 or 4 feet wide (HUGE!).....the paper is fairly heavy duty (usually used to make posters and such) so making foils and printing on it should be a piece of cake....ill keep you posted!

just printed out some test parking stands for narrowbodies......at 90% they fit perfectly with 707's, DC-8's and other classic heavies i also tested ways to simulate wear from tires and engine run-ups and it actually turned out really nice! ill upload some photos later today so you can see

heres how i 'weathered' it: crush up a bit of graphite (like what you use in mechanical pencils) and get some on your finger. then smear it along the taxilines trying to make the centre darker, neatness here does not matter, lines from the flakes of graphite end up looking like perfectly scaled tyre skids, so dont worry about those, lol.....in the stands, be sure to smudge on alittle extra in the gerneral areas where the tyres are on parked aircraft. for more detailing, also smudge some where the engines would be (be sure to make it look like the engines running by making them streak strait back from the point of origin and fade the farther away they are).........this will make more sense once i take those photos, lol

Cool, looking forward to see the pics. Did You print on ordinary paper ?
I printed on HP rough paper, and unfortunately, i dont think graphite will stick to the plastic surface.

Beautiful foils!!! Grade A work!!! Very easy to use, and if needed, editing, or moving lines/squares is easy as click, drag, and place. I love these!!! Are any other foils in the works??? Runway to taxi way foils, runway foils, cargo center parking spaces?
