Default New Airport Update II

Here are some photos I took tonight. I am pretty much done with the landscaping. I am still working on the terminal. I found the pixelport tiles too clean so I did some touch ups to them.

what you need to do is (after you place the coarse turf on the glue ) use a fixating agent. What I do is spray the turf with Krylon 7120 (a couple of different times) and that helps to keep the turf in place. I also use a krylon adhesive spray which works great. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Believe it or not....my first crack with this grass is using hair spray net called AquaNet. Now I use adhesive sprays and multiple coats of Elmers below.

I am not disappointed with them. They are a bit expensive, but they have saved me lots of extra costs (if I had not used them) as well as time. If you are interested in them I would suggest purchasing them from Adamjets (www.adamjets.com).

I purchased some single-foils from Paradigm and they have enhanced my bookshelf airport at work.

That is some nice weathering on the runway surfaces, definitely looks realistic! Keep us updated on further improvements!

For grass, I'd stay away from spray adhesives. First they are hard to control, and second, that stuff is extremely toxic and flammable.

Area to have grass should be painted a dark brown first. If this is not done, the white color of your board WILL show through! After the paint drys, make a mixture of white glue and water. It should not dry fast, yet it should be thinner than standard white glue. Too much water and it will run and cause warping/water issues.

Using an appropriately sized paintbrush, apply the glue mixture over the painted brown areas. Sprinkel on ground foam that has been gound FINE. Do not use bags of ground "clump"!! Let sit for 1-2 min, then tap off all excess foam. Let dry and you are done. DO NOT PRESS THE FOAM INTO THE GLUE!!

Doing the above will give a very thin layer of foam and will look very realistic. (the photos above are good, but the grass was applied too thick). Also, try go to go with a foam that has a mixture of shades of green w/spots of yellow in it, much more realistic. I use Mixed Turf from Woodland scenics.

Thanks for the advice, but I purposely created a thick turf ( I like the turf thick, not thin). BTW, I never have had problems with the adhesive sprays ( I do not find them hard to control) and if done properly (with adequate mask/ ventillation) should not be a health problem.
