After not being satisfied with the amount of detail and precision of my JFK Terminal 1 diorama, I decided to take on another project with more straightforward architecture.
I chose Boston Logan Terminal E due to its manageable size and variety of international carriers.
I am building the terminal in its current state, which will also include the new A380 gates.
The scale is 1/400 and the materials I have used are basswood and paper.
As you can see, there is still a lot of details missing, but I will be following up with additional progress photos as I continue this build.
A number of the DA.C clan have built truly incredible scale terminals, and this is one. These projects evidently require patience skill and discipline that I don't have, but I appreciate great work when I see it. Remarkable and admirable stuff. Well done, Doug
Nah man, started an LAX project years ago, then met my wife, had a couple kids, yada, yada. Life got in the way. Someday I might get back into it. Just glad to see “Builders” back on here....especially ones with your caliber skills!
Brian, the terminal looks very promising, I'm sure you'll end up with a fine airport!! Can't wait!!

Brian, I wholeheartedly disagree with your desire to make something new and modern, and will protest your decision by fasting alcohol between 11:47 pm, and 12:11 am. But dang those results are good! I need you to build me the LAX theme building in 1:400 scale. I have, like, 20 Frontier Airlines buddy passes as trade. I know; worthless.

Hahaha, don't tempt me... I've been eyeing that LAX theme building for a while now. Do you have any LAX blueprints?
I've been considering my next project and think I will go for something a little less new and modern as you suggest.
I've spent the last few years drafting plans for the JFK IAB circa 1980s, but that one is massive!
One of the best model airport terminal I've ever seen!!

Was unhappy with the tarmac, so I repainted it and began work on the final details. Please see up-to-date photos below.
Will follow up with more updates in the coming weeks as I finish the arrivals ramp.
A question for you master architectural modelers: what glues are you using, especially for paper veneers used to detail your structures? I like Elmer’s standard white glue, but in drying it tends to shrink and distort the material underneath. Thanks for any suggestions, Doug

I've never seen such a beautiful, realistic airport diorama before!
This masterpiece should be placed on display on the airport waiting lounge, showcasing your gift, talent, attention to detail and execution finesse!
I'm sure it would be admired and praised by every single passing passenger [big and small, young and old], everyone would be stunned!

Your great skill as an architectural modeler begs the question, what is your profession, or intended profession, and does it relate to your model building skills? Clearly you have unique abilities, and I wonder if you're using them professionally or is this just a hobby. In any event, we appreciate your work, and thank you, Doug
