Default Lincoln International Airport

Lincoln International Airport....from the book (and later film) Airport, by Arthur Hailey. Pretty much a stand in for O'Hare, but filmed at MSP in the movie. Just a mini diorama for the time being, and hopefully something bigger soon...

A primer, from the novel's Dust Jacket:
"Lincoln International Airport calls itself boastfully: Aviation Crossroads of the World.

"Yet those with inside knowledge - like Mel Bakersfield, the airport's brilliant yet career-jinxed general manager - are aware of grave deficiencies. Operational areas are outmoded to the point of danger; air traffic control is overtaxed; the supposedly-modern glass chrome main terminal has become a whited sepulcher.

"Against this background is set a dramatic, behind the scenes story of seven eventful airport hours during a mid-winter snowstorm....

"But the true hero of this novel is the Airport itself - viewed through the eyes of a master storyteller."

I finished reading the book today, and say that the movie was a good adaption of the book. Overall the book was well written and very well researched, and has some great subplots (especially Keith Bakersfeld).

Part I: 6:30 P.M. - 8:30 P.M. (CST)
"At half-past six on a Friday evening in January, Lincoln International Airport, Illinois, was functioning, though with great difficulty..."
