Just a quick note that the project is still alive but due to some personal setbacks (looking for a new job) not a priority currently.

Great looking project Matt!
Going to follow this very closely.
Good luck with the job hunt.
Looking for a new one myself but in too big a hurry.

Thanks a lot Ron, some positive news this week, starting a new job so quite happy!

Thank you (Bedankt!). It does take a lot of patience and re-doing things.

Finally after 2 months finished the second door. Next will be the rear wall, which will be removable for access, 2 more concrete slabs for the garage bays and than the fun stuff starts, creating the interior.

Your're naming this a little project? 2 months for 1 door. I stopped within a day!

It sure has turned out into a long term project. But it is fun, I found it very helpful to keep me sane during times of stress. Starting a new role in 2 weeks time which will see me travel more but hope to be able to still work this project.

Thank you!

Progress has been made, the rear wall is in place. It is removable to provide access. Also the small concrete extensions outside in between the 2 garage bays are in place. And have started work on the interior, building an office desk. And 2 out of 3 gas pumps are installed.

Nice! Do you know when this project will be finished? Can't wait to see the final finished project. I love the car, by the way. Keep up the good work!

Thanks a lot Daniel. Yes the Chevrolet Impala / Caprice is one of my favourites as well. In terms of the timeline, I hope to finish the interior within the next 4 weeks or so. After that I need to start on the roof, including adding lights and the structure on top of the roof. After that putting on the final touches, perhaps some trees, flowers, fences, etc. So hopefully all will be done by the mid-next year.

Thanks Daniel.

A quick work in progress photo. I have build the service desk which curves at one end, and a small coffee table. The figures are from Preiser in 1:72 scale and the coca cola vending machine is from a Greenlight set. Still loads to be done, a couch and chairs will go in the corner (which will mask where the window is attached to the wall), office cupboard and perhaps a food corner. And of course some pretrolia posters on the walls.

I finished making the couch and table and added a young couple waiting for their car to be fixed. Next I am planning to add interior window ledges with some indoor plants perhaps and a retail area.

Every garage has its small corrosion corner so I have added this to my diorama. Mine has an old 1955 Chrysler 300C waiting for someone to restore it to its former glory.

Some small details added such as a few plants, oil drums and the interior of the garage floor is coming along. Planning to build a small outdoor bench next for the front office.

Progress is being made and started work on the roof. It contains a removable panel to allow access to the interior. Currently looking at different lighting options, which will be the next step. Also still adding to the exterior / interior and awaiting some additions that are in the mail.

Thanks a lot Daniel. Hope to have the lights done before the end of the year. Decided to use the light system made by Woodland Scenics. After that I can finish building the roof up, it has 5 layers of alternating green / white and a brick section on top of that. So hopefully all done before the summer.

Thanks Daniel. Today a little goodie arrived in the mail. Every gas station needs an ice box and it looks mine has a customer for it, ready to load some bags into his Ford Country Squire wagon.

The service station is from the 1950s but it still exists today and is kept in it's original condition.

Have start with apologizing for the crappy photo. My camera has a scratch on the lens causing it to create a blurry spot on the photo. Plus the winter weather in Canada bans me to the basement so no good light or colors and weird reflections. Anyway having got that of my chest, below is an update. I have finished the green - white layering around the building and the gas station canopy is nearly complete. Starting with lights this weekend, which should be fun, after which I can glue the canopy in place (it is loose currently).

Thanks as always for your feedback Daniel!

Great progress and the lights are on in the office and under the canopy. I am using the Woodland plug and play system which is easy to install and offers the option to adjust the brightness of each light. Next will be the final brick walls on top of the white/green layer and installing the ceiling in the workshop. I'll post separate photos of my latest 1:64 1969 Chevy wagon addition, seen below.

Thanks a lot! Sorry for not posting for a while, it's been busy with work lately and some travel. I am almost done with the upper structure. It is not yet glued in place and gaps still need to be filled but it gives an idea what it will look like. Hoping to purchase the outside lamps today which will be fitted to the front above the garage door. Next I can glue the upper structure in place, and close up the back part.

The lights are so called "gooseneck" wall lights, from Woodland Scenics. They were not available in my local model train store so have ordered from Ebay.

Quick update. The upper section has been fitted, and the gooseneck lights attached and indoor workshop lights installed as well. I have started on the roof, not yet properly fitted. Outstanding is painting the top of the roof black (as per Google Earth), replacing the right gooseneck light since they sent the wrong color (too yellow) and adding cross bars with Texaco lettering on the canopy of the service station. Forgot to remove the tree to the left before taking the photo, don't know yet what to put in this area (suggestions welcome). And still need to buy the third gas pump.

Roof painted black, using Rustoleum chalkboard paint which gives it that nice matt color. Onwards and upwards!

Excellent work.
I like the Citröen DS which must still be the most comfortable vehicule ever conceived.
Are there any of those in Canada ?

Thank you! The Citroen DS is one of my favorites as well. Citroens were sold in Quebec until the early 70s and you will find some survivors occasionally. In Ontario, I have never seen a DS.

More progress. I have installed the beams on top of the canopy and applied the lettering.

I guess it is about time I revealed the real service station that inspired the build (not an exact copy). It is located in Cowan, Tennessee.

Cannot have a service station without a classic Texaco sign post so I custom built one. Still need to touch it up a little bit. But very happy with the result.

Great! It's all coming together right? Keep up the good work as always.

Thanks Jean Pierre and Daniel for your feedback. The end if almost in sight. I've also created the display case for it and fixed the one light. Just a few more bits and pieces to make it look nice. Thinking about the next project.
