Default 1/200 San Diego

In the process of making a 1/200 replica of terminals 1 and 2. It's gonna be gigantic when all linked together.

Very nice. Must be a drag to move it each night to have dinner.

Haha. It is! When I set it all up it usually stays up for a week or two. It takes about an hour to set it all up. When Terminal 2 is done, it will be about 20ft long, and won't fit in my dining room.

You're welcome. I'll keep posting as I make more progress. I've been dragging my feet on starting Terminal 2West. That one is gonna be tricky.

Awesome job! I wish I had the space to do KSAN in 1:200. I did it in 1:400 instead, circa 1980-1990. Keep the pics coming...

Very nice indeed! It looks like you're using some of the Mozart Models jetways in Terminal 2E. What kind of construction techniques are you using for the buildings?

I'm in the early stages of building my circa 2000 1/200 diorama of terminal B at KROC. I started the project several years ago and finished the tarmac, but have recently been preparing for construction. I purchased 10 of the Mozart Models jetways for that purpose and am also attempting to do the interior of the terminal as well. Your project has given me even more inspiration to make this happen! Thanks!

Thanks man! Ya I went with the Mozart jetways for Terminal 2. I made all my own on terminal 1 but it was a lot of work and they don't move at all.

Terminal 1 was made of mostly cardboard, with some wood for the connecting structure. Terminal 2E is almost all balsa wood. Terminal 2W will be a hybrid. And it's gonna be tricky because it has a lot of curves in it. I have videos of it on YouTube if anyone's interested. My user name is "foster398".

Fantastic job, been to San Diego at least once with Southwest.

Looks like there's the flight to SFO, and to OAK, and to SJC....

I get my blank Tarmac mats from NathanBennett, you can see his post above. Then I design the marking myself or I print off free ones from online.
