Default The pyhsical and mental Demand of building Rodney Heath Airport, Australia

Hi all,
Recently joining DAC I thought I might share a story.

This Past Year I built a what I would think to be easy single runway rural outback airport going by the custom name, Shepparton Rodney Heath Airport. The torment started at a school run, it was hard rubbish week, and I came across a floor sampler, the ones that weigh about a ton and let you see if your floor will look good with a certain wood. I saw this piece and thought.... that would make a good airport (no pun intended) so I ran a 40cm x 30cm 18kg piece of wood about 3-4 km from a sports ground to my school and then another 2km to my house. as soon as I got home I thought. how to make this airport. I wanted to make it look like Shepparton had expanded and so had its airport. I already have a larger airport so I wanted a outback airport. I designed and built the entire airport myself, and also incorporated a small section of the terminal on the top right hand side of the diorama.it took me 5 days to complete what is now a stunning airport!

Welcome to the forum
First let me congratulate you on a fine avatar...Ansett shooting stars forever.
Also welcome to another aussie collector -
Your airport looks promising. A nice layout and use of the board.
What aircraft are you planning to base there - for eg Virgin/Qlink etc?
One word of advice would be to maybe tighten up your taxiway linings.....that sort of detracts from the scene. You can get some GJ ones that you can just stick down or use a ruler and permanent markers to get nice clean and straight lines.

Outside of that - well done and looking forward to more posts from you.

For a first attempt - the second can only get better.
You've got some real potential there to create a really spectacular diorama.
