Thumbs up Been to Knuffingen Airport at Wunderland Hamburg Part 1

Hej,

Been to Knuffingen Airport at Wunderland Hamburg.
It's amazing, incredible !! 1/100 scale.

Everything cars, planes, whatever moves in a very natural way.
We spend 10 hours there and haven't seen it all. I will go back.

Cheers,
Wim

Very jealous you've been there!! That is on my bucket list to do, hopefully within the next 2-3 years. Question for you = who is the manufacturer of the 1/100 airplane models on display? Cheers! T7

As you can see on these photographs (and maybe read in the german comments below ), all aircrafts are hand-made by Miniaturwunderland's staff. The guy seen on these photos is actually a dental technician.

Thank you, KaiTak for the background info on the 1/100 models. My german is a little rusty, but I am can assume that the comments were all positive. I am curious if this talented/skilled dental technician sells these "hand made" models on the side? Cheers! T7

@T7_4ever: I don't think so! When the Turkish Airlines Boeing 737-800WL was first seen at Knuffingen Airport (what a name) even Turkish Airlines officials joined this event. So no airliner here "flies" without a political or economical background. As you can read in my added article below it took some 180 hours to build this aircraft with all its electronics and mechanics.

And even if you notice some cockpit-window-issues it's just impressive to see passionate people doing that.

Thanks KaiTak, yes, those are some 1 of a kind models and I can see why they take plenty of man hours to create! If they ever decide to make room for other newer planes, and don't know where to park the older birds = I will personally volunteer to put them up at my hangar (will even pay for the shipping to Canada), hee hee! Those are awesome models and I can't wait to make my first trip to Europe to visit this place!! Should be on every collector's wishlist to make a pilgrimage to Wunderland Hamburg/Knuffingen Airport. Cheers! T7

Its an impressive place, a definite 'must visit' place if you're in Germany. I followed the development on youtube(check out Gerrit's diaries) and the engineering that goes into making this diorama is very impressive! All planes are hand built themselves and all of them can move('takeoff and land', taxi, pushback) save a for a few on static display. I did notice the Lufthansa sticker dropping out from the tug hehehe.
