Default Yes and No International

Hello,
Here are some early shots of a new diorama I'm working on.
Base is 120cm x 150cm.
Terminal yet commenced but will be loosely based on the lovely new Raleigh-Durham T2 in North Carolina.
The terminal building, control tower and new style jetways will be scratchbuilt. I am no fan of the mass-produced stuff available - just want loads more GSE (please!).
I'm finishing all the apron, tarmac and taxiway markings before the terminal is started and have hand painted all the markings and only a few lines left to be done. Runway number also to be done.
Will have approximately 16 gates and remotes.
Hope you like.

I like how the runway is at the corner instead of going straight across the board taking up the space for nothing.

MYBE......I've adopted that code.
Excellent choice...maybe I'll land or maybe I won't.

Your set up looks really nice. I live the angled runway as it gives it more character.

I like the set-up so far. What scale is it? Where did you find the runway pattern?
The airport code is YNDN

Thanks all,
This is 1/400 scale.
Runway and apron markings hand done but only after many hours of searching google images. Runway lead in lines now painted and only have to add runway number. Runway is 05.
Now all the markings are basically complete I can turn my attention to building the terminal.

That is such a clever design. Loving the layout and the foils. Nice job!

Thanks for your comments.
One thing though, no printed foils used. The baseboard has been painted as has the runway and all the markings and taxiway lines.
Each has been masked and then hand painted which is very time consuming but worth the end result.
BTW, all the green areas will be coveed with fine grass powder to simulate grass (funny about that). Only painted these areas to give the green some depth.

Decided I needed a realistic looking aircraft sitting on the runway so I pimped my Qantas. Test fit and then paint.

I like what you've done with the flaps....

MYBE will very soon be fully operational and thanks.
I'm struggling to make the leading edge flaps look accurate so there's a bit of the ol' trial and error happening.
Now the base is complete (minus the fuzzy powder for grass), next week when back from interstate business trip I'll be full steam ahead on building the terminal.
In my mind's eye I know exactly what I want to build so let's hope I can turn it into scale reality.
Will keep the progress pics coming.

Thanks Guys,
I've just finished adding the leading edge flaps to my pimped Qantas.
Hope you like the results and I hope it will look a lot more realistic when they're painted. Now I need to rest my eyes.

Thanks for the comments.
You might be surprised to know that the layout above has been reworked and a completely new design is being done.
Terminal will still be based on the beautiful Raleigh-Durham Int'l but I've changed the aprons, added the General Aviation apron and terminal and modified Cargo ramp etc.
Pictures will come soon. It's time consuming as I'm currently painting all the taxiway lines (1mm wide) by hand. It's done with tamiya masking tape spaced to 1mm wide then use Humbrol enamel paint = sore back from leaning over it.

Nice resurrection for the 'ol DW model. Nice job again with the flaps.
Might have to give that a go.
