Default Good Base for Tarmac?

Tomorrow I am going to start building a 1/200 model airport. I will be printing some ground foils and taping them to the base very carefully. I am thinking of using foam poster board, double layered. Would this be a good base?

I recommend Gator Board for durability and portability.
