Default Mid-Hudson Regional

So after many attempts in 1:600 years ago, I am now going to build my first 1:400 airport. It is a fictional airport, located near Newburgh, NY. I'm trying to model it after Albany around the same time period. I can't find any info or pictures on old Albany, but I know it was served by American, Mohawk, and Allegheny around 1970ish. My airport will be set between 1970 and 1974. As you can see, I'm going for a brick look, like you would typically see in a Northeast airport around this time period.

The following airlines will service Mid-Hudson:

Braniff International
Mohawk (eventually)
Northeast
American

Here's my start:

Rough Layout:

Cut-out terminal pieces:

My assistant:

Painted part of the terminal (tower will be on top of terminal):

Updates Soon!

I second that. I have two assistants. They really like to "help."

A lot still needs to be done, markings, runway, terminal windows, lighting, parking lot, control tower, etc.

As for my assistant, he's already ruined $1.50 of balsa wood. I go get some water, and then I come back, and he's having a field day on it.

At the risk of givng away a trade secret, here's some information on Albany. The website is long gone, but the Internet Wayback Machine has archived it!

Albany, 1962-1998

Thank you so much. This is great for design inspiration.

That's quite the treasure trove of photos and schematics. Love that Wayback Machine!

Question: what does everybody here use for yellow ground markings? Nothing I have seems to show up well.

nice work on your airport

for the ground markings i use UniPosca pens which i get from this website here in the UK... you guys must be able to get them over your side of the pond

Uni POSCA Markers - Cult Pens

There are loads of different colours and widths available... i have only used White, Red, and Yellow on my layout...

I certainly feel they give a good outcome... its like paint in a pen
