Default Heathrow aircraft enthusiast's fair-14 november 21

A heads up - the next UK Aviation Fair will be the Heathrow Aircraft Enthusiasts Fair on Sunday November 14, 2021.

Won't make it unfortunately, too close to the LGW event. I wish they'd space these two out a bit more. The normal April date for LGW is awfully close to the Spring LHR show too. LGW is also in May next year.

Managed to change my trip so that I will be in London on that Sunday. Anyone going to be driving from the Bath Rd in the morning?

How do DACers who have never met recognize each other? Is there a secret handshake that I missed during induction?

I've met several DAC'ers at these shows. Although in September at LGW, we were all in face masks and barely recognised each other.

Haha! Yep, just like the Freemasons...I'll be coming in my ceremonial robes and pointy hat

I think Robert (robertjon5) suggested a gathering of DAC members at the ARD stall at midday if I remember correctly? I hope to be there myself!

well John, I will recognise you. having met you a a few years ago.. but yeah, suggest any newish members and others meet around ARD table at around 12.30. they do not open till 10.30. so this gives you 2 hours to have a really good look round.

Likewise. The cases are going up again, it's a total pain. You can't just make simple decisions to do things anymore, without this getting in the way.

Don't get me started. I've saved for months and will have spent over $17,000 to live in London for six months. I've not been here quite 3 weeks and there's now talk about shutting down the country again. I had planned to take advantage of outdoor activities as much as possible whilst we're still having warmish weather, saving indoor activities such as museums until it gets really cold. Looks like I need to rethink those plans. Not to get too personal, but I'd really hoped to meet someone to date whilst here this trip. I still have time but I'm getting worried with everything that's going on.

That's a real bummer mate. All the effort/money to be over here and not to even be able to enjoy the experience fully...this thing is not yet over sadly, will have to see how it goes over the next few weeks. Normally, attending a model fair would be an easy decision to make. Crazy times.

Fingers crossed I’m there for 10 days with a full schedule after the show..I’m ticketed to fly up to Manchester from LHR on BA for the day to visit the museum and visitors terrace. And trips to Dawlish and Cornwall too…

Wow, sounds like plan. Hopefully you’ll be able to do all that with no hitches, and the weather will be decent for ya. They did major rebuilding work to that famous section of coastal railway in Dawlish after it was battered by the sea and severely damaged a few years back, a reinforced concrete abutment wall lines it now, not as pretty as it used to look but hopefully will save the railway!

My original intent was to fly to Cornwall but there is no air service anymore since it’s winter.. yes I’ve watched many a YouTube video of that train getting battered by the ocean…how many people can say they were late arriving by train because they were hit by ocean waves!!!! I look forward to it..

That was scary to watch and definitely an experience you wouldn't be forgetting anytime soon! The train ride down although much longer of course will hopefully still be a nice experience for you. A very scenic route (Paddington - Penzance) with lots to see, if doing it in the daytime. Have a great trip

Bringing to show, or to sell? If any of the 1:200 BA models are for sale, you know I will be interested.

I don’t have a table to sell models but if there are any customs you would like to see let me know which ones and I’ll bring them along.

Not been to an aviation fair for quite some time, unfortunately I will miss this one as I have a previously booked trip to Gibraltar that weekend (Covid restrictions allowing).

I am heading out on a business trip right after the show, so my ability to "carry home" will be limited - but if any one of your 1:200 British Airways customs are up for sale, I am in.

I think Robert's suggestion of 12:30 might work better as it starts at 10:30 so gives a reasonable amount of time to have a good look around beforehand, depending on how much there is to rummage through on the day. So easy to get waylaid at any particular stall. Either way, I hope to meet you and others, finally putting some faces to names which would be great (although possibly masked up again, I'll be wearing one just be on the safe side anyway)

I love these types of shows as you never know what you'll find! Did you manage to add anything to your collection or you waiting for the main event?

I once found and bought a Modell Edition (Herpa Premium) Lufthansa A300 with Hangar in decent shape for $40. Too at some of these shows you see toys we once played with as children. Enjoy your trip and safe travels!

He certainly had plenty bargains at the last Gatwick show. I bagged the Cargolux interactive 748 and Antonov Airlines An-124 for great prices.

Yes Geoff was there but he was limited as most of his stuff was packed for the show tomorrow several dealers at that show said they would be at the Kempton show tomorrow as well.

Blimey…I’m going to look pretty small-fry in comparison to some of you guys. Just looking for a select few 1:400’s 😂

Had many a bargain from his stall. Nabbed a GJ BEA Trident at the last one, hopefully might find something from him today as well 👏👍

Just got back from the show and bought three GJ 1/200's from Geoff Noble at excellent prices. Met up with Stevec and great to meet Crownvic Russ. Always nice to put a face to a name. Ended the day at the ESSO garage on the southern perimeter watching a few departures from 09R. All in all, a great day.

Great seeing you to, I think for me personally the show today was the best one, in all the years I have been going there, plenty of stalls, and bargains, and of course meeting all of the other DAC members that were there to.

Lovely to meet you all too and had such a nice chat with you Steve. I agree, it was the best show I’ve attended so far as well, very healthy turnout and lively, found 3 bargains and the social aspect of meeting other DAC members really enhanced everything.

My very modest haul included 3 Big Bird Negus 747’s, 2 fleet-builders and one I didn’t have (British Airtours), all bargains at £40 each, a signed copy of Adrian’s Heathrow book and another one about Soviet-built aircraft, by Charles Kennedy, another really lovely bloke I got talking to there. Also, picked up a nice retro BA Negus glass.

Good to see you too Steve. There were certainly a lot more new faces amongst the model sellers this time.
