Default LHR Show

Only a week to go (5th May) to the LHR show at Kempton Park. For the first time I won't be going due to holiday commitments. To those of you who are going, have a good time.

I'll be there with a table and wiffy selling postcards and Corgi models. If anyone is looking for anything specific from the Corgi Aviation Archive range, let me know as I may have one?

Latest Aeroclassics will be available from ARD's table.

See you there!

Thanks RJ. I've Mrs Lufthansaboy to thank for that one. We're going to Norfolk and did suggest driving down for it but I was given the look.

I too will be in Norfolk as well this week-end. Rather be in Norfolk than go to the show anyday!

Yes! fancy booking this show on Mayday Bank Holiday weekend . We were due to go with our Caravan to Mildenhall.
However, with permission from SWMBO will now setup at Hurley, near Henly-on-Thames. So not too far to go...

The past years it has always been the first weekend of May. Only the LGW show was a week earlier this year but will be at the usual weekend next year.
We (the organizers of the Amsterdam Aviation Collectors Fair) will be at Kempton Park too with some lovely models Šnd of course promoting the 2020 edition of the biggest indoor Aviation Collectibles show in Europe!

I don't agree. I have always taken a holiday the same week for years and the show has always been on the Sunday following the bank holiday.

Last year it was the 6th of May, 2017 the 7th of May. But not worth a discussion if you disagree.

We'll be in Great Yarmouth ourselves. Absolutely love Norfolk. We'd move there tomorrow if it was possible especially around the Yarmouth/Gorleston area.

The scarecrow festival in Martham over the bank holiday is worth a visit.

I do wish they would move the Gatwick and Kempton shows further apart, just too close together for me to do both

Yes I always wonder why the 2 are so closely scheduled.

Quite simply run by two different people and timed before the UK air show season gets underway and most people are not on vacation.

Thumbs up Re: LHR Show

Again, thanks for sharing. Very healthy turnout for a Bank Holiday weekend, it was a really good one and found some great stuff again; managed to swap a model for another holy grail at the 'Dutch' stall, picked up a SMAC Air California 731 for £20 and found some interesting books; "The Flier's Handbook"; published 1978 and containing so much detail on all aspects of the then current aviation scene, with a fantastic section covering all the various airline insignia with lovely little illustrated aircraft drawings in colour, all from the very era that I represent in my collection. Also found a British Airways Engineering Training Manual for the H.S Trident from circa 1976 and a British Caledonian Press Release document with fully listed details of their fleet/fleet names (doing a project on this very thing at the moment for BA), on typed headed paper. Really cool retro 70's documents.

Well I never made this, too soon after LGW2019, but I have just made a booking at the Kempton Park Premier Inn and will be in attendance at the November show. Looking forward to it already.

Nice one. Well worth it; it is hard on the wallet with the May event being so close to the LGW Fair. It was interesting to read Andrew's hint that he might even be at the November one; would be cool to meet the man just to see what he's really like in person. I did wonder why he wasn't doing the UK shows anymore, then it was explained to me yesterday.

Yup not a bad show. Picked up a PCM Fenwicks C5A Galaxy at a moderate price but way less than the Herpa version.

Also a couple of 2019 Spotting Reggie books.

Nice to meet RJ and thx for photos.

Also not far to travel this time about 25 miles. Might have to do the same campsite again - Hurley Riverside Park if anyone interested.

Note to Barison I will have to look out my BCAL CFM56? Training/information manual sitting somewhere...

Hi Aviaction - sounds interesting! I'm fascinated by these technical manuals, drawings and documents, especially from the 70's era
