great time, nice to see you guys. Sold about 3.75 cubic ft. of models, most of them for 25%-50% off their original price. Someone/some walked away with some models [2 of them 737 Frontier o/c] w/o paying for them, that' stealing. Other attenders would almost claim their son were in their death bed or the excuse "it's for Julio" [and I loove Julio] to get a lower price of a product that was at a low price. On a couple of occasions I had some young collectors with their parents dealing their budget, it was a pleasure to give them a juicy discount.

It's really sad this culture of getting something for close to nothing, I really feel for those sellers that have to make a living and sell their merchandise at a lost in order to leave/go home with a bit of cash. It's true that seldom we go across people selling low, most of the time this people are trying to get a bit of cash out of a business that it's closing

One buyer cried and begged me to lower the price to ten bucks, he was getting few more [most of them highly sought models] right after that he turned around to tell his friend "I have been looking for this model for a long time" celebrating as if he had scored a goal/point [actually he did] I asked him to please leave before I gave his money back. I learned a lot about people at the show.

The big show next year will be in ATL !!! Germany has the second largest show. This years show was fairly busy. I took both the DL maintenance and DL OPS/Airside tours. I also went up in Star Helicopters twice. Brought home seven 1/400s and reunited with many friends. Other than one hiccup hats off to both Teresa and Duane for an excellent show. If you want to photograph all the heavies landing on 24L/R request room 1420 at the Sheraton Gateway at LAX.

It was a pleasure, knowing the big players in this diecastHobby is pretty fun. Nice to see the ADI people as well, all of them had shoes ON, business must be good.

I got to meet with Julio, Ruben [I sold him one of his own releases/757Avianca from back then SkyJets400 times] Andrew and meeting as:410/Andy Jung. Tom Harris, Sam, JC/shandaken and Scott were the only known faces from the buzz. I got to see Julio

great show, and thanks Brian/Jet-X for the free/available table to sell my models.

I will be attending the ATL show this year because it is within driving distance. I hope it will be better than last because I was underwhelmed last year. DP

The AI committee says they are striving to make AI2015 in June the biggest show they've ever had.

I hope that they can make it because so far of the three shows I attended (ATL in 2011 and 2013, MEM in 2012) was not very impressive at all. DP

I must say that being my first time attending an AI show in the USA, I was quite impressed with the overall experience and how professionally organized the event turned out. It was a pleasure to meet the main folks at Gemini Jets (Elliot and Russell aka crownvic) and thanked them for the fine models that they have been rolling out. Had some fun talking with Andrew and gave him props/kudos for organizing a 1st time collectibles show in China this November; the more people we can attract to this hobby = much brighter future for manufacturers and collectors.

Also was able to have a nice conversation with Don and his daughter Jodi (Jetstream USA) during my visit. I thanked Don for the IF200 AA DC-10 that he released earlier this year, and gave it my vote for 1/200 model of the year for 2014. I also suggested a particular B747 on my wish list that would fit nicely into my collection. Well, what better way to ask for a future model = speak directly to the person (who can make it happen) with a smile on your face and that other collectors would surely jump on board as well! Also met Ming Lee and Mike Chui at the show (they brought a fleet of models, see above pics) and had a good time chatting with them. Great to finally put faces to names in this hobby. Cheers! T7

there will be the regular show in the fall set for Oct 6th...the big one will be in June..The only way the show will be successful is for the local host to make sure they advertise it locally. That should not be a problem for the Atlanta locals..

This was not the case for the LA show..Despite the great vendor turnout, there was virtually no local walk ins to support the vendors..once again sadly it was vendors buying from vendors.

That's not good! Any specific reason why the show was not promoted within the local area? Did somebody drop the ball on the advertising?

Yes, looking forward to the Atlanta show hitting it out of the park for local collectors in 2015! As it should be for our hobby!

You are quite welcome, sir! Glad I was able to capture some photos for the DAC forum/collectors. Yeah, that In n Out joint was absolutely crazy and it was controlled chaos for ordering food; that line was snaking around inside the restaurant and overflowing outside!!

The 20 min walk from the Sheraton was well worth it = saw the following during my walk there:

BA A380, AF A380, EK A380, VA B747; we don't get that traffic at YYZ. Cheers! T7

Hey bud,

You sure there will be one this year in October? I checked at the Delta Museum and I didn't see any. If there are no locals, then how can the vendors make any kind of profit at all? DP

Thanks for the photos T7. Was there anyone selling vintage 1/50 or larger airline/bizzjet models? I've done quite a bit of collecting this year via online/web sellers so am at my space limit?...although if the right 990 came around, I could make room~

You are welcome, Josh! Just wanted to enlighten other DAC collectors that were not able to attend the show, and pics usually help.

Hello, glad you like the pics. Hmmm..when I was there a customer did pick up a 1/50 b737 off one vendor; couldn't remember the airline/livery.

Also, I showed up on the 2nd day of the show and was told a certain individual/retailer had scooped up many models 1/400 and 1/200 on the prior day (thursday) from some vendors. So my timing was a bit off on what models were left on friday.
