Thanx for the heads-up. I'm going to make a concerted effort to attend this year. No guarantees, as my previous attempts always seem to get thwarted by 'family obligations'.

Message question to Thunderbird2 = is this show still on for October 6th? Have not heard anything back from you since my post on Sept 15th.

Your reply would be most appreciated. T7

Wow! Does not surprise me you sold out, due to the very limited size/area at the function room at the Hilton Garden Inn.

Also, would like to commend you for not replying to my earlier emails dated September 13th and not responding to my DAC posted dated Sept 15th. Please don't tell me you were sold out 2 weeks ago. This is coming from 1 vendor who has always purchased 8+ tables at the past shows.

This is now a bonus for DAC collectors; in the upcoming weeks once I have settled down in London = I will resume selling models again on the DAC. Mister TBird2 aka "I never respond to emails/return voicemail messages, etc." has saved me a weekend trip to YYZ!

Cheers! T7

Fyi: For those collectors who were thinking of driving into toronto for the show and paying the entry fee. Save your gas money and just call threshold aviation for any models. All other tables will have the same rehashed items that show up every show. That's why I decided to sell models at this show 4 years ago to give collectors actual models that were in demand and sought after.

Sad to say that this venue is getting smaller and I would not be shocked if thunderbird2 holds the Oct 2014 show in his basement or garage. Toronto crowds are dwindling every year and everyone is now going online for models.

Here's some false advertising for you:

'This year's collectible show is bigger than ever' = NOT

Simple logic and common sense = If it was, you would hold it in a bigger venue.

Not the same "little/microscopic" meeting room at the Hilton Garden Inn that was used at last year's 2012 October show. Oops = the 2013 April show was canned this year and thunderbird2 never bothered to inform anyone, lack of professional courtesy and does not come as a surprise to anyone that has had to deal with him in the past or current!!

Oh I forgot to add. Professional and common courtesy would be extended by adults. However, tbird2 is that little child in his liitle sandbox that dictates how you must play by his sandbox rules to enter and play. Yes every dac member has experienced this in their childhood days, too bad that tbird2 is still using this collectibles show as his little sandbox. Well you confirmed what the other yyz past and current vendors have said about you and your childish vindictive traits. Cheers

count me out...ill pass this year

just to add my 2 cents:

A question to Thunderbird2, why would you DELIBERATELY exclude the one private vendor/seller (Threshold is considered a business/retailer and is excluded from this post) that does the MOST business at the collectibles show? He has the most variety of models that have consistently been pleasing the 3 levels of collectors ( novice/beginner, intermediate and seasoned ), and that's why he ATTRACTS the most customers at the past shows (Holiday Inn, Doubletree, and Hilton Garden Inn). I've noticed a pattern at the past shows with other private vendors (your bed buddies) they keep passing their old/used models between them at their one assigned table, unlike T7 who has 8 tables of brand new condition/mint models. I guess watching him at the past shows providing models to his customers is too much to bear for you and your little group of junk vendors, as they (T7's happy customers) walk past your table without evening glancing at your used models.

I've seen and heard many customers at Aviation World and Threshold Aviation that specifically inquire if he (T7) will be at the shows, knowing that he provides great deals on models that are long gone and hard to find. Yes, you thunderbird2 have also purchased models directly from him at the past shows (1/200 diecast Qantas 737 and a 1/18 scale F16 fighter) so you know he brings the real goods. Oh well, go ahead and shoot yourself in the foot; and I will second what adam340 posted above (this show is really NOT WORTH GOING). Looking forward to what he's going to sell on the DAC in the upcoming weeks or so.

Also, please Grow Up and stop behaving like a little sandbox brat that T7 had mentioned above. Not responding to his inquiries from 4 weeks ago about the show is very petty and low, and just reaffirms what other toronto collectors/vendors have said about your character and that is you have absolutely NO CLASS.

I was actually planning on taking a big part of my collection there to sell (like I have been planning to for sometime now), or at least try to....I guess the Toronto Aviation & Airline Collectibles Show is not the place to sell them I guess....

Another fine example of Thunderbird2 and his LACK of communication skills, must hand it to him = he is consistent:

Hey 1:200Freak.

I would suggest you sell if you've already purchased one of the sold out tables (I think that room could only hold 22 tables at the most; I had 8 tables in the same room at the Oct 2012 show and I took up one 1/4 of the room space; very tight space) , that way the show can actually have a legitimate private vendor/seller that has some pretty decent models (based on your past pics on the DAC). Cheers! T7

Wow.. I haven't been here in so long, I forgot ,my password

I think Arnold is slagging Steve just a little bit too much here.

The Airliners show is one of the longest running (annually speaking) airliner shows in our hobby. Many other shows have come and gone, but Steve has put out a show at least once a year every year for the past 20 years.

Surely he must be doing something right then? I like how the room is called "tiny" although it's the same size as the Holiday Inn room where the show was held for more than a decade. And there are more than 45 tables at the show that I know of.

Whether or not you want to visit this years show is up to you guys, but make an open decision, not just believing one side of the story....

All righty! Faheem

You know have my full attention to properly respond to your post.

First, my apologies for not being active on your 400 diecast hangar forum, but I found juggling 2 forums for my posts a bit too much of a hassle. So I decided to stay on the diecast collector forum that brings in the most traffic/activity = drum roll please…. the DAC Forum. Not “slagging” your personal 400 forum, but it's very quiet there for some reason?

Second, there really is no 1 side of a story here. This is a PUBLIC forum and I covered my *** on the DAC to show the members/collectors how Steve operates. It’s sad that it takes you to come to his defense (did he offer you a table discount, just kidding with you) , and he’s not doing it himself. But, when someone posts actual facts/events; it’s very difficult to defend yourself. That's why I posted on this thread about a month ago requesting vendor info from him; but there was not a peep from him to my requests, my emails, my phone calls. Also, that's why I also highlighted the April 2013 show that never was, thanks in no part to Steve not informing the DAC forum, Aviation World or Threshold Aviation about the cancellation. Both stores only got the information when he posted a flyer (see above post/link) about the 2013 October show. If he had any professional courtesy, he would would’ve contact Threshold and Aviation about him not putting out a flyer for the April event. Heck, I had fellow DAC collectors (see above post/link) and the general public coming to me for answers for the April show; what does that tell you about Steve and his lack of communication skills.

Third, you, yourself was frustrated about that April debacle from Steve, because you are also a vendor at the show. I remember our conversation last year about Steve, and that you went to him and offered your help/assistance with the collectibles show. Steve’s response to you= he literally bit your head off with your offer of help, and you were put on his “No Talk” list for what = a month or so? Please, tdbird2 grow up and behave like an adult. I don’t know about you, but when someone offers help in running/organizing a show anybody would gladly accept their time/effort in whatever capacity. But, it’s Steve and his “little sandbox” we are talking here, and he does not want you to jump in his sandbox and change his ways/rules with the show. Lordy, how much more straightforward can I put it to you, especially when you personally experienced it firsthand from him; and told me what went down.

Fourth, here’s my history with the past shows:
First show at the Holiday Inn = pain in the ***, to haul boxes and boxes up stairs to get to the room to setup. However, the just under $4,000.00 I took in made the inconvenience worthwhile. Attendance was great.
1. Second show at the Double Tree = very sweet and big venue, enjoyed the show and raked in under $3,500.00. Attendance was good.
2. Third show at the Hilton Garden = very big pain in the ***, to have to wheel in the models thru the friggin Kitchen of all places! Very small/tiny venue when it takes only 12 seconds to walk from one end of the room to the other, yes I personally timed it myself. Took in just over $ 2,500.00. Oh, when your assigned/purchased tables are about 2.5 feet by 4.5 feet I can see why you can fit 40 tables into that small function room. That’s why I had to purchase 8+ tables at this show. Had to keep most of the models on the floor in bins, and stack the models on the tables to just fit onto the small tables. Attendance was not good.
Lastly, I’ve received emails from DAC members/ex-vendors and they mentioned that I totally explained everything “as it is/the Truth” in my posts; and that’s why these collectors/members no longer sell at this specific collectibles show.

Oh I almost forgot to add, I want to express my appreciation and thanks to you, Faheem. You were the first vendor that sold me my first 1/200 diecast model = Air Canada DC-9 that brought childhood aviation memories to me when I was in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Also, I’ve flown on the plane many a times, since our selection of airlines/jets were very limited at our airport, hee hee. Climbing down those stairs in the dead of winter (-45 c) was an experience I’ll never forget!! So I tip my hat off to you, Faheem for starting my 1/200 diecast collection

Good post, Faheem. I think Steve will now finally give you some free tables at his next show. I don't know if we were at the same October 2012 show = it was not a great turnout, based on the amount of people that went thru the front door last year = not many, but my sales were sufficient for the amount of traffic. cheers! Nice of you to take one-on-one (private) conversations and air them out in the public...

But at any rate, Steve and I may not agree on everything, but at least my criticism of him is constructive, and isn't name calling and lies (ie small hotel room, or next show in Steve's basement).

And to suggest that Steve gives me free tables is so beyond childish it isn't even funny.

You are not one to really talk about successful (or unsuccessful) shows either if you catch my drift.. And don't try and blame me for your troubles in May. You damn well knew I was going to be out of the country in May...

Pics of the show? I just took a couple with my phone..

Looks busy to me, but maybe Steve paid me to take these photos?

Faheem

Where in posts do I bring up may show with you? None. Second, my original post was why didn't steve reply to my requests about vendor info from a month ago. If he didn't want to sell me 8 tables again and take business away from his table and his buddies; he should have told me that a month ago. Simple as that. I look forward to seeing how the ADULTS put on a real event in los angeles. Cheers! Time for bed, have several meetings at the office on monday. Oh, I hope you didn't take the inactivity on your personal forum as a slag? I was just comparing the numbers vs the DAC.

Hey Faheem,

Enjoyed and appreciated our telephone conversation this morning! A much deserved thank you to you for taking the time to discuss everything with me, and a big thumbs up to you for improving upon your own personal 1/400 sales from last year. However, my wife still wants to hunt down the collector who got me started in the 1/200 crazy world of collecting! Don't worry I won't tell her it's you, that would be too easy for her to walk into the store and corner you next time we are in the GTA, hee hee! Cheers! T7

Default Re: Toronto Aviation & Airline Collectibles Show - Oct 6-2013

My daughter and I went to this show and after being introduced back into the Aviation Hobby courtesy of my daughter in June, I had a REAL BLAST at this show. The purpose of going was to obtain some Airliner World magazines. Ended up with some 1/200 models, and some 1/500 models instead and a couple of books. EXCELLENT and we plan to attend all future shows health willing
