He/they doesn't/don't. GBP 5,000 is way too much and anyone interested in this hobby (and, thus, with a basic knowledge) knows it. Such a 1/50 DC-10 model might go for less than GBP 1,000 - that's it. I have seen an (even larger scale, about 1/36) KLM A310 sold at around EUR 2,000 (which is equivalent to GBP 1,650)... but that one had interiors and lighting inside. That was a fair price, I think.
