Hahaha... well, these 1:800's don't come perfect... so, I just pick the best one out of the lot... then refine them at home. hahahaha
by the way, HighFlyer, if you do get the hang of it, you can venture into repairing these models. It can be frustrating at first, but fun once mastered.
I am saying this because at times, the model you like doesn't come really perfect (e.g. wheels that are not aligned or level, wingtips that don't match in heights,etc)... once you gain confidence in doing these repairs, you'd be happier. :-)
Believe me, I once formed a habit of breaking up models just to bring them back together in a more refined way than when I bought them.
