I’ve looked into it a bit more. It applies to all of their USN and USMC Phantoms with walkways, going back to the very beginning. Given that over a decade has gone by without complaint, I’m sure they are going to be hard to persuade of the need for a change.

I think the root of the problem, surprise, surprise - is kit copying. If you blindly copy kits, you copy other people’s mistakes. The walkways are too wide and this seems to be generic kit issue. On top of that the tooling seems to have a bit of a shape issue. There’s no way the second point will get fixed.
