You will always get a ridge when masking, you can’t avoid it. But I’ve found that it can be reduced if you use several thin layers of diluted acrylic(water based) paint rather than using enamel paint. Also it helps if you can butt the decals up to the “ridge” line. Also you can try a light wet and dry rub along the ridge line. No wings removed to do this, just the props.
