For the invasion of North Africa P-40s did fly off American carriers to support allied troops. The invasion was into Vichy French territory and the planes landed there after control of airports was obtained. The small carrier(s) are configured to transport P-40s for offload at a secured port. They bear the same generation of U.S. markings as shown in photos of P-40s used in the invasion campaign.
