AIR TRANSAT

Established 1987
Based in Montreal, Quebec with additional bases in Toronto and Vancouver

Air Transat is Canada's third largest airline after Air Canada and WestJet and currently holds the distinction of "World's Best Leisure Airline." However, they may be best known for the 2001 "Azores Incident" in which a fuel starved A330 en route to Lisbon from Toronto made the longest non-powered flight and landing by a commercial airliner in history. The cause of the incident was a fuel leak in the number two engine due to an incorrect part being installed by their maintenance crew. This aircraft was repaired and remains in service with Air Transat today. Air Transat has also proven itself a world-leader in environmental advancements.

*Air Transat operates to 60 destinations with a fleet of 26 aircraft.
*Air Transat books 3.5 million passengers per year.
*Air Transat employees over 2100 people.
*Air Transat has won many awards including the Skytrax "World's Best Leisure Airline" award three years in a row, 2012-2014.
*Air Transat was ranked first in the world in the "Atmosfair Airline Index" in the long-haul category for environmental performance in 2011.
*Air Transat was the first airline in the WORLD to renew its IOSA registration under the new Enhanced IOSA methodology.
*Air Transat became the first airline in the WORLD to attain Minimization level certification from the World Green Aviation Council in 2013.
*Air Transat became the first North American airline to be granted IEnvA Environmental Certification.
