Default What is your problem with the gears?

Ok my fellow collecting friend - so I gather you are upset with Herpa gears.

Well , gather your thoughts , take a moment - and please tell us in detail - just what you are upset about regarding them.

If you have a problem - then telling us in detail (and not just a single statement) will identify and possibly help US when choosing our models.

Can't wait to hear from you.

Well to many of my plane that I have order had broken gears!
All of them are herpa planes..
None of my Starjets planes have that problem.

Example the tires fall off, gears snap to easliy, I mean can't herpa just put more time into there 1/500 gears!?

And if you want replase ments it takes 3 weeks (roughly).

Well I've never had a problem with landing gear with Herpa on the NG's. I prefer Starjets over Herpa but I find you really have to look closely at Starjets. Many of the gear are in crooked and have excess glue over the wheels. Also Starjet's 727's problems with the rear stabilizer usually broken off.

Thumbs down yes they have problems

herpa certainly has a problem with its landing gears as my mongolian A310-300's landing gears are already bent, i also prefer starjet to herpa, but starjet has disappointing landing gears as well. it has additional glue(looks like washed by chemical stuff), bent gears. i told starjet to improve it, but i am not sure they will react on it(they said, 'we will'). anyhow, both the two have to improve their products a bit. finally, bigbird, herpa recently jacked up the prices, then we can claim better qualities. i wish they would open their ears to their customers.

Default What are you going to do|

I'll echo the complaint over a lack of quality control with Herpa's NG gears. At least with old ugly OG gears...when they were bent, the plane still sat OK on the shelf. I average about 2 out of every 10 NG models has some problem with the gears (I either have to glue a tire back on...or the entire gear assembly. If they are broken...back to the shop it goes.) I guess its the price you pay to have Herpa models that look "real." I don't buy Star Jets...but I gather they don't have Herpa's quality control problem?

That white residue on the Starjets models is probably superglue fogging - you can apply some Future floor wax using a Q-tip and this will generally get rid of that unsightly problem. Alternately, take a permanent felt marker (black) and colour in the whitish areas.

i had trouble with the herpa NG gear but it was because i let the 2 models fall down on the floor. I had the same problem with my Star Jets. I like the gear like it is. I never had a problem with the gear except by my own fault.

yabu

then order less planes threw the internet

Strange...with over 110 models (Herpa, StarJets, Aeroclassics, Gemini), I don't have a single one with landing gear issues...

If you have a problem with the gears e-mail Herpa..they will send you plenty, get out the superglue and a hairdryer remove the old gear and stick a new one on. For tires just get the new one get a cotton swab and stick it on. It ain't rocket science people.
