If you believe it to be the same model then I would absolutely report him. These types of scammers are what gives reputable ebayers a bad name.

I learned a lesson. The package traced all the way to Chicago. Then it stopped moving. For 30 days it said in transit, did a trace and all that jazz. Turns out we cant track packages to Ireland. UK, Slovakia, Hungary yes but not Ireland. So nowadays I just don't ship to Ireland, Italy, Czech Republic or any other place where it cannot be tracked all the way. Of course I complained to eBay but that seems pretty pointless.

Yes, both kis.magyar and airplanemodellshop are based in Ireland and use the same broken English. I assumed that Ireland would track the package to the door like UK but I was wrong. He is obviously taking advantage of this. He has a particular interest in Hungarian aircraft. I had another person approach me to buy a different plane and he used the same style of English. I just canceled the order under "Buyer asked to cancel order" to avoid the ding. He must have sent me over 20 messages wanting the model. Eventually I just wrote "f-off" in Hungarian and he gave up. I'm sure if more people got together there would be far more to discover. Surely he is using multiple names.

Here is his address just in case it helps anyone:

Tamas Magyar aka kis.magyar aka airplanemodellshop
apt 24. Thornfield Square
Clondalkin,Dublin

If the shipping company you used provides for tracked shipping, And They failed to do it, why don't you claim money from them ?
You insured your shipment i presume?

I've had this same issue with two models now, happy to help put a case together with anyone. I had the second one insured so didn't lose anything but didn't realise he was selling them on as well

This is exactly the reason I dont ship outside USA, if you are not comfortable dont ship outside your country....I make it pretty clear in my listing all the time...I am on another model train collecting forum as well, I was hounded by many members who live outside of US whenever they would see my items for sale and with a condition "WONT SHIP OUTSIDE USA".

There are other type of buyers as well, who will haggle after recieving the model to reduce the price as they "FOUND A DEFECT" that wasnt observed in the initial listing. It is absolutely not worth going through all that anxiety and stress when being clean in intent and price....

Seems hard to believe you don't get these types of buyers in the US also ??

Think this is a worldwide issue thanks to the electronic age, not just outside the US !

I've had this happen a few times from overseas buyers. From what I recall it was Germany. Product substitution is another scam to watch for. Buyer has a broken plane, buys your plane and claims the plane received is damaged and returns you your broken one or in the case of expensive return shipping knows you'll just tell the buyer to keep it with them getting their refund. EXACTLY why I will not ship outside of the US! Like I say, scammers will eventually get theirs!

...and these same scammer buyers will insist they are not paying for the most expensive shipping method that protects the seller! This is the first red flag!

I don’t disagree with you on coming across the same type of buyers in USA as well. Then again you have the consolation of being able to track the package at the least. I have learnt from my mistakes, and I dont sell and ship anything over $150 unless until I personally know who I am selling to. Anything below $150 is a gamble and if everything goes well, all is good. If the buyer turns out to be a crook then I have lost $150 max.. But that amount fits my risk appetite...

I still am looking to sell my collection (Herpa Premiums only) that I want around $1000. If and when I find the buyer, I would probably hand deliver them.. so that the buyer knows what he is buying...

Sorry for my ranting..But, I have never had a bad experience except once buying from the waffle guy.. He sent me a Lufthansa A300 in a Herpa Premium box meant for a non Lufthansa A300.. When I contacted him back, I got some nasty vocabulary filled responses... But that was the only bad experience..

airplanemodellshop just listed a bunch of new planes. A LOT of Delta stuff. If you have stuff missing you should keep an eye. Perhaps phoning the local Garda (police) station directly in Ireland or just mailing them some screenshots may do the trick.

As far as foreign vs non foreign. The man is just taking advantage of the lack of tracking when that package gets on the outbound plane. So Ireland has no tracking, so I do not ship there anymore. I really am surprised he does not have a worse feedback at this point.

He REALLY likes Hungarian stuff, so I have also stopped selling any of that stuff altogether outside of USA. He gets a new Hungarian plane in the post, keeps the best one and sells the second one. Now he is probably buying any airlines stuff so he can raise capital to get more Hungarian stuff. It's mad. Plus he is selling on ebay.co.uk and ebay.de and excluding USA from listings so many of his victims won't easily connect the dots.
