Im not a very big pokemon fan, but I really like the Pokemon ANA 777. The Etihad A330 and the Varig B767 are also on my radar. Pretty good releases.

Good on Phoenix for gauging what people want and making an in flight and ground version of the 747-8i. Now let's just see what the mould looks like...

I'm definitely going to go broke this month.

Quite a fancy release this time. Etihad and SIA look tempting. And I must not miss this time Thai AirAsia. Thanks PH

Wasn't a Singapore triple three released not that long ago?
9V-STA IIRC, but it would have been on the old mould of course. Hmmm.

I wonder what else will be coming under the radar? I figure the Lufthansa T3 will be an under the radar, anything else I wonder???

I'm liking the non-cartoon-y ANA 777. And the Lufthansa. Definitely the Lufthansa.
I've generally shied away from the Pokemon aircraft. Since I've been trying to build a good ANA collection, should I finally take the plunge and get just one?

The 748I is also tempting.

Another great month from Phoenix. Starting to get used to this level of excellence. Keep it up!

Interesting to see an "inflight" and "on the ground" 747-8. I really want to see the mould on these and see how it compares to the Dragon mould which is already top notch.

They're ok, not particularly great. Rolling gears appear proportionally oversized on the 767. Nose shape is also somewhat askew. Gemini does a better job with their 767s.

A positive with Phoenix, though, is that they've got the better wing thickness.

VARIG B767-341/ER special Brazil 500 years livery is unmissable. I think that I will try the new B747-8i (ground version), too.

I have just noticed there are two B747-800i, named "on ground" and "in-flight" versions. So what are the differences between them? The presence or absence of gears or the wings position? I am curious.

The Eram Tu-154 looks interesting. Its livery is reminiscent of Sibir, I wonder what the history of this airline is.

In-flight wings swoop up as they would look if the aircraft is flying.

Both! The wings angle is different (wings up for in-flight version).

I thought it would be only gear up and not. Interesting that Phoenix is investing so much money just for a different in-flight mould. I guess they will be releasing many more in-flight (fantasy) models in the future.

I guess they understand not everybody likes a model with too much upper anhedral. Especially in the case of the 787 and 747-8 when it looks ridiculously exagerrated.

More good 1:400 Stuff from Phoenix! I'm really happy to see the two Hainan A340-600s because I thought the other release would be kind of hard to find. I have seen B-6509 a few times at YYZ already. I'm really happy to see the Lufthansa A330-300 as well. An LH A340-300 would be great, I think its likely that PH will do an LH 343 so I will be real happy to see that one.

I'd like to see them redo their B747-400 mould because they've done 2 really great releases and that's fantastic but the models look terrible. Is it possible for Phoenix to use Gemini's or someone else's decent looking 747 mould?

What is so bad with their mould? The only thing I don't like about it is the nosegear strut which I find too long.
All in all, some of these Phoenix releases are a real wallet killer.

Here are a few:

-The nose has little/no curve and is in the wrong shape
-The section where the cockpit section meets the hump is not rounded
-The engines almost scrape the ground
-The wings are not angled properly
-The nosegear strut is too long

Hoepfully they will re-tool this mould. Is there any chance of that happening?

Didn't Phoenix just retool their 744 mould a couple of months back?
IIRC the only releases on this new mould so far are the two Thai purple livery 744s -TGL & -TGR.
Are these what you are talking about?

The ANA Pokemon is flying off the shelf, better order from your favorite retailer quick as it's sure to hit sell out status on pre-order!!!

That is correct.
Comparing the new mold to the KLM 744 mentioned is not correct.
Although the changes of the retooled are not spectacular it looks quite ok to me...

Thanks for pointing that one out. Almost missed that one. That was a missing piece in my collection too.

Awell, nothing for me this month. I suppose at some point I may decide to pick up that Lufthansa, but it's not on the top of my want list.

The two I was talking about were the AF and KLM 744s with the old mould. I have one of them (KLM) and it doesn't look good, and the AF doesn't look much better. Which is why I would love if they would be re-released with a new mould.

But thanks for telling me about the new 744 mould and the two Thai 744s. I had no idea they already did 2 releases with it. I watched a Youtube review and looked at a few pictures of it and it looks much better than the old one. I have to hand it to Phoenix, they really improved the 744 mould. But I hope they re-release some of the models they did with the old 744 mould on the new and improved one.

I think Phoenix's new 747-400 mould is problematic, particularly the cockpit glazing seems to be printed a little bit high.

And the nose shape of the 747-400 seems to be too short.

It would ruin the 747-8I Intercontinental's sleek shape should PHX's new 744 mould not be modified.

I hope PHX will listen and modify its new 744 mould on the 747-8I, or essentially make a clean-sheet, all-new 747-8I mould that addresses these issues.

Nevertheless I will undoubtedly purchase this 747-8I model in ground configuration, in addition to the following:
1.) 1:400 PHX Singapore Airlines A330-343E
2.) 1:400 PHX Etihad Airways A330-200 Manchester City

I think it's a trade-off between mass production of new releases every month and better quality.

And although Phoenix's quality control did decline a little bit, it is still at an acceptable level and that Phoenix's business model is very likely growing owing to the massive new releases instead of placing quality at any expense.

If PHX's income soars even with the declined yet acceptable quality control, why should they place quality at any expense?

At the end of the day, Phoenix is in a business and its practice is very good business-wise. And you have to put aside your personal interests or hobbies in running a business successfully.

Damn, I just spend a hundred bucks at Waffles last week... and now these come out! I'd love the Pokemon 777, 747-8 "Inflight", and China Eastern A340 but my wallet disagrees with me! Haiz!
