Default 1/400 Hogan official ANA 787-8 JA801A "1st Delivery"

As some of you are aware, ANA is poised to take its 1st Boeing 787 delivery in August or September.

Its 1st 787, registered as JA801A, will feature a special livery and is a new 1/400 model release.

Hogan 1:400 全日空 Boeing 787-8 JA801A 特别涂装 NH40049 飞机模型世界

Notice its blue Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 package A engine as well as the detailed markings on its fuselage.

I couldn't wait to order this aircraft model!

Meanwhile, as an aerospace analyst, I went to Tokyo Haneda and attended ANA's 787 ZA002 Service Ready Operational Validation (SROV) tests.

Here is my report:
"Boeing 787 is a dream (almost) come true"

Sure hope Phoenix is working on the 200 scale version.

God I hate that stupid wing flex on models.
Otherwise looks very nice.

Me too, but Hogan's mould is arguably more realistic than Phoenix's.

I do apologise in missing another 1/400 official ANA Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner release.

1.) NH40049 ANA Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner JA801A "1st delivery"
2.) NH40058 ANA Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner JA804A standard corporate livery

Ok, so I will argue it: how can a model with wings bent above the fusalage like that be more realistic than the Phoenix model?

I will not buy a model with wings like that, simple as that.

The bending wing is indeed a drawback for Hogan's model and I would also like Hogan to improve on this.

However, when you compare the cockpit glazing printing, the engine nacelle shape and Hogan's landing gears, Hogan has an edge in these areas.

The 787 engines of Hogan's 787 models, in particular, whether it is Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 or General Electric GEnx engines, can be looked through and are much more precise than Phoenix's.

Nothing is perfect, as is the case of aircraft models.

Though the notion that Phoenix is always the best is not a tautology, and people should keep an open mind. For example, Phoenix's new A330 mould is the best and much better than Hogan's unrealistic A330 mould and Hogan's 747 mould also looks inaccurate.

In terms of 777 & 787, Hogan's mould resembles the real 777 & 787 more. For example, Phoenix's inaccurate 777-200LR/-300ER raked wingtip, too sharp nose and a wrong GE90-115B (-300ER) and GE90-110B1L (-200LR) engine size.

How exactly is Hogan's 787 cockpit window more accurate?

Actual 787:

Phoenix:

Compared with the picture of the Hogan version which you posted:

I think Hogan's 787 nose section is quite inaccurate - particularly its cockpit windows and the shape of the forehead. I can't say I agree with your point about the engine nacelle shape either. I call it a draw.

I don't think anybody here is saying that Phoenix is always the best. However, I do think that when it comes to the A330/A340/A380/777/787, Phoenix are hard to beat.

Since you mentioned the 777, let's look at that:

Actual 777:

Phoenix 777:

Hogan 777:
http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...iew-22956.html

Point taken about Hogan's better raked wingtip, and larger engines, and a more rounded radome. That said, as far as the nose is concerned, Phoenix's 777 nose beats Hogan's as far as everything but the radome is concerned. Hogan's 777 cockpit windows are too vertical, and it hasn't quite got the 777's distinctive forehead right.

As far as the engines go, while Hogan do indeed have the better sized engine and do have more details (curved fanblades), Phoenix offers the better nacelle shape. Phoenix's 777 landing gear is also superior to the Hogan version. Another issue in Phoenix's favour is the wing thickness - Phoenix has it just right, Hogan's are arguably too thick.

Every manufacturer has good moulds and bad ones. Hogan are no exception.

Guess some people here just have their bums stuck to the Hogan side due to it being a "Japanese Exclusive". Value over Quality, c'mon....
