Default Philippine Airlines new 1/400 releases

Hi Guys, It's me again. I apologize for posting another PAL topic. But I do really loved my home carrier. By the way just to inform everyone, PAL is selling four models on-board as part of its 70th anniversary. One A330, an A340, a Convair 340 and a Douglas DC-3. Thanks for the space!

Are these 1/400(I am assuming as this is located in that forum)? I'll be flying PAL from MNL to CEB and onwards to NRT(then CO to IAH) this Friday(04/08). I might snatch up a(n) A340 if they are decent. :-) Mabuhay!

Be careful and have a great one. Get some protection with thicker face masks if possible.

jetsetexpress, it is possible you may be talking about the Herpa 1:500 PAL jets. Only Herpa has released the A3303-300 to date. I saw it in Aero Shop in Hong Kong.

Hi NW332Lover! These are a different batch. These are officially released and commissioned by the airline to commemorate their 70th year anniversary. They are actually selling them on board flights.

I am guessing the DC-3 and Cv340 are the JC Wings moulds that GJ shares? Impossible to download their 80MB catalogue to have a look - what ARE they thinking of?
If anyone can post pics, that would be great?

Well, I just got home from a long week in Manila and as I was on PR434 from CEB to NRT, there was no duty free shopping offered.

@Adrian: I'm not really familiar with the JC Wings models. Is it manufactured under the same house as with Gemini?

BuhZilly: I'm sorry that you weren't able to buy them on-board. I guess it's only available on long-haul flights.

There are only two manufacturers that have a 1/400 Convair 340/440 mould - Aeroclassics and JC Wings. Gemini Jets share moulds with JC Wings and also have contracts with certain airlines for on-board sales, so it is pretty certain this is the JC/GJ mould. Here is that model in All Nippon Airways colours. It's not as good as Aeroclassics, but acceptable.

Yes I do hope the A319 and A320 would come out. Didn't the A330 came out with Dragon Wings?

Same thing. Didn't Dragon came out with the A340-200. But I do hope a PAL A342 from Phoenix with reg would come out. Hope they could fix the yellow though. It came out orange-y with N751PR and RP-C7475 (Both 744)

Yes they did, but that was last century! (Released in 1999 IIRC.)
As such, it could be a tough model to find today...
Besides the Phoenix mould is really nice.
(Assuming they put the correct tail unit on it! Oh, and sort out their problems with yellow and orange. I won't mention Royal Brunei - ahem. )

That's interesting as the 'chunky undercarriage' confirms the Cv340 is the JC Wings mould, but both this and the DC-3 appear to have mocked-up
Photoshop liveries on them that don't look quite right. The early PAL cheatline was dark midnite blue, not the bright blue shown here. As soon as someone has pics of the actual models, I hope they'll let us see them.

That's a shame if that was the case. I was talking with the guys involved, they mentioned all will be in the 400 scale. I haven't talked to them recently so there could be some changes made.
