OK, the KLM is like "the opposite of research". KLM's DC-10's provide a rather unique opportunity:

They were the first -30's built. Thus, they are the definition of an early DC-10-30. However, KLM upgraded them later, to match a late DC-10-30. It's almost impossible to do a model of them wrong, as they operated both configurations, and each reg number existed in each configuration at some point!

Unless of course, you have a physically late-version mold, and you paint it in the delivery version of the livery. Guess what AC did?

I find it strange that AC copied both reg number and livery of GJ's release---PH-DTA, in delivery colors. GJ's mold is an early version--it matches their release perfectly. That's the worst choice AC could have made, as their mold is a late-version DC-10-30. PH-DTA would have been fine, had they painted it up in a later version of the livery. (either with 80's style relocated titles, or 90's style monochrome logos)

Guess what, it worked

I'm glad I don't collect 400 scale models anymore because I am not subjected to any of this BS but if a 1/72 scale manufacturer/retailer pitched a comment at me like that, my obvious response would be to ask them "have you tried self-conception lately!?"
Your products stand without equal or challenge yet you treat your customers like schiit and expect loyalty.
mind-boggling!

Back to work on my very beautiful 1/72 B-58 Hustler now.

Agree to 100%.

The NW 10 looks rather tempting, but I decided to avoid AC models. His latest post above just proves that this decission was correct.

Wow, lots of negativity towards aeroclassics here, When you fist look at it theres 35 releases and who has money to buy them all, But there must be maybe 1-2 models you like fom that 35.
35 models representing 12 nations so thats 12 countries that will have happy collectos with must buys not includeing people who might have a connection with that country or that area of the world.
35 models that i can pick 2-3 from which is better then Gemini jets releaseing 5 models for a year and buying nothing, These 35 models will be very limited and only avaliable to certain retailers, Buy the few you liek and let AK wory about shifting the other 33, Aeroclassics was quite limited last month so maybe between 2 months theres a balance and then the extra for the retailers exclusives.
And if you dont like anything be happy with a wallet break because as a lot of guys have found out this month, it only takes one month of great releases to break your waller.

I have nothing against AC, the largest percentage of may collection is AeroClassics. I disassociate the man from the product. This is a huge number of releases, but only a few of each is available. Most of them are bland, a lot of fleet-building models, and all have been done to greater and lesser quality by other makers. Nothing original or truly interesting in the bunch, a very uninspired dump of models. I imagine a number of very happy collectors, but not nearly enough to absorb this lot. We'll be seeing many in discount sales next year.

I once bashed Axxxx for releasing so limited number and torture the inflated prices of most wanted models for some collectors. But this is how they market their own segment and this is their unique strategy.

Lost in all the BS is attention to the exceptional NE DC-6, just what I need for a diorama I am working on. Really need some AA DC-6s and 7s and while your at it, some dc UAL 6s and 7s.

...good idea... more eurowhite trash...(not to speak about the degree of obscurity)

maybe Andrew should devide the brand into AeroClassics and AeroContemporary...
with contemporary stuff gaining more and more ground...but with minimum mould variation...

Unfortunately Steve, that's because most of these "so-called" collectors on this forum are not collectors, just schit-disturbers.

You on the other hand, are the reason this hobby continues for some, including me, in anticipation of your next round of photographs!!!
Thanks for what you contribute to our hobby!

I agree the AC DC-6 is magnificent as is Andrew's DC-7. I have 6 DC-7s in my collection and they are superb, my BOAC blue and white tails being the favourites. This new -6 eats the previous JC/GJ version hands down.

Now I know you weren't referring to TWA as BS in your post there. If so, be prepared to receive a lump in your stocking - and it won't be coal either

Sure seems to me that the F-28 mold was ditched. Pity too considering it's the only one in this scale.

I'm getting the Air Jamaica A300 80's livery and Northeast DC-6 d/c. Not that bad after several month without anything from AC.

Eurowhite trash ? To me it looks like a classic, smart livery

I might get it someday, to add it to my Chinese fleet.

Couldn't agree more. So many liveries I'm waiting for on this pretty little jetliner.

I'm not gonna involved with this 'diecast politics'........ but one thing for sure, Aeroclassics produced the best model out in the market today. Keep in coming Andrew.....especially British Airways, KLM, and hopefully CX.

That's a lot of metal there.
The DC-6 look absolutely brilliant! I may have to succumb to the gorgeous Northeast 1950's livery, even though I don't usually collect US airliners, it is just so beautiful.
I will have my fingers crossed that the Il-18 will make a reappearance in the new year. Polar Aeroflot would be nice!

Wow, I'd hate to be a manufacturer trying to please everyone every month.

Release just a handful of models and people will complain.

Release a truck load of models and people will complain.

Release all retro models and people will complain.

Release all contemporary models and people will complain.

Release anything on a sub-par 727 mould and Gavin will complain.

You just can't win!

Gavin

Thanks for what you contribute to our hobby!
I Think This Is Proof Positive You Take Joy In Hurting Others Or At Least Attempting To Hurt Others Including All Collectors In General.
Congratulations. You Have One The Most Mean Spirited Person Award In The History Of Die Cast Collecting.

I Take Joy In The Fact That Waffle Still Sells A Lot Of You Product (Even If Bought Aftermarket Or Leftover Junk) For Price That's FAIR MARKET VALUE.
Furthermore I Take Even Greater Joy In The Fact That A Lot Of Your Product Has To Be Sold For 5 Or 10 Bucks, Proving That Those Models Are Overpriced Junk.
I Also Take Joy In The Fact JC Wings Moulds Are As Good As Yours For Half The Price.
Now You See, I KNOW That Hurt You. See How It Feels. Neener Neener.

Rick, go back to your $10 PlayStation games, and leave collecting to real collectors!

Merry Christmas Rick!

What about that "schit-disturber" who forced "Aeroclassics" to appear as ******** in the first place? Thanks for what you contribute to our hobby!

This discussion just goes to prove my old dictum that the farther away an activity is from the provision of basic sustenance, the more childish and fanatic are the politics involved.
