Is it just me that thinks the colour of those Royal Jordanian A330's is well off?

They all look FANTASTIC!!! I have the Egyptair and Royal Jordanian A330s on order...I just wonder about that big satcom antenna on their roofs? It looks a bit skew, not very well finished off with a big gap between it and the fuselage...
I'm looking VERY forward to their arrival here in Joburg

The modells look great again. Have the RJ on order, but looks abit crazy with the antenna and the front wheel makes the plane lean backwards.. For the rest great modells..

I thought the RJ colors look a bit lightish? purpleish? Maybe it was a weird white balance from the photo?

How are the wings on the A340-600?

That is correct. The circumstances were far from ideal

Much better than the LH. They need no modification.

In real life RJ's charcoal gray upper colour does seem to change depending on the light levels_I've parked next to their A310s on some days where they look black, on other days when its cloudy and gray, they look grayish/brownish /purplish...Its a very interesting colour they've used!

That NZ 744 might be the only option available in the market if older releases with better moulds might be harder to find. Still, some may appear on ebay once in a while.

How many Turkish 777s do they really need to release? The again, I'll probably buy one since TK is switching to the 77W on the YYZ route this year.

Not only does the "glued-on" ADF antenna on the A300 look bad, I think they actually did simply use an A300-600 mold, and painted an A300B4 registry and window pattern on it. So the wings, engines, tailplanes, and fuselage would be wrong... (though actually, I think the stabs weren't right for the -600 to start with, so that'd actually make them correct now---but it's impossible to tell from that angle)

Not sure about the Sichuan.

But Dragonair? Where did you get the source that it'll be a release?

I can understand your joy, but i would have preferred a B738WL and/or an A320/A321 in standard c/s before we get the third B77W.. I know that PHX is more related to special liveries, but the workhorses get too often ignored IMHO..

Looking forward to more releases on the A330 mould, which looks pretty good..

Whether THYs special scheme or workhorses are wellcome for me... There are a lot of diecast manufacturers and most of them ignoring the TK because their marking strategy is demode ( their new releases are rereleased items ) . And in this situation PHX contiue to release TK ... Thats why i am happy about it.

Why is the Air France shown as a A300-600?? F-BVGP was a A300B4-203, afaik AF never operated the A300-600!!

Acunia, I do love your pictures they always appear to have a nice gloss finish to them. Keep them coming.

p.s. Acunia, the mailing e-mails I receive from you on a regular basis always appear in my inbox as "High Risk" warning me they may contain a virus/trojans/phising etc. Not sure if this is a problem with my virus checker (I use Mcafee) or something else, hence I never open them just in case. You may wish to look into this as some ISP's may have them blocked before your customers receive them.

Ok, my choice is done, I won't get this AF A300. Very bad model.
The RJ and Egyptair A330s are more and more tempting though, especially as I received my AF A340, whose mould is simply one step ahead of current productions (take a look at these Heavy, I think your judgement on plastic vs metal wings will change a bit ).

True. Dave Hingtgen theory is most probably right : PHX used a slightly modified A300-600 mould.

Glad to hear they corrected the wing problem on the A346!

This batch of models is the perfect example of how no model brand alone can be judged to have the best or worst quality. The A330s and 77Ws are beautiful, while the A300s and 747s suck!

I'm getting the Turkish 77W with the regular livery, the Iberia A346, and one of the Royal Jordanian A332s.

Ok, I'm not the expert by any means, but why do so many people say the PHX 747-400 is so bad?

Personally, I think they do a very nice 744, better, IMO, than Gemini's, that's for sure. What I HAVE found is that, within the PHX range of 744s on offer, there are individual models that are WAY off, one of which (JAL new livery 744 JA8088) was so terrible that I actually thought it was a cheap diecast toy when I unboxed it.

I think that, if you get a good one, the PHX mould has better engine pylons, better cockpit/nose shape and finer winglets that the GJ example.(Not to mention better undercarriage). I have noticed that the size of the cockpit windows differs between PHX 744s,which gives each one a bit of a different look, which isn't good. I have extremely pleasing examples of the Korean 744 and Thai "Amazing Thailand" 744 from PHX, and as I said, A TERRIBLE JAL 744 too.

Are these the reasons that so many people regard ALL PHX 744s as bad?

I know it disappoints me because I never know if the 747 I'm ordering will be one of the "accurate" examples or not, and for this reason I have started staying away from mail-ordering my 744s-I'd much rather see and examine what I'm getting before I pay over my $39 plus P&P! Sadly this also means I miss out on lots of potentially very fine models!

I will grant that the Phoenix 747's undercarriage is good, and the size of the cockpit windows sometimes appears ok, but the nose and the winglets really ruin the model. Neither the nose nor the winglets are the correct shape. What's more, the entire model looks a bit too fat - somewhat noticeable from direct front on. Look at a Phoenix 747 front on, and a Dragon Wings 747 front on and there's a noticeable difference. Speaking of Dragon Wings, their 747s have the correct winglets - no other manufacturer does. As far as the engine pylons go, they appear to be slightly too long - number 2 and 3 engines are almost touching the ground. That clearly shouldn't be the case.

I have a Phoenix SQ 744, billboard titles (9V-SPQ) and I'm very disappointed with it. Not only is the mould an issue, but quality as well - the starboard wing looks as though an elephant sat on it. I hear that Phoenix are going to introduce a new 747 mould, and I'm very much looking forward to that. Hopefully there'll be a re-release of an SQ 744 billboard titles when the new 747 mould comes online.

Having said that, Phoenix are one of the few manufacturers to get the wing dihedral angle right. 747s when on the ground only have a very small dihedral angle.

Thank God I have now stopped collecting 1/400 models and gone back to building military kits and collecting military diecasts otherwise I would write about the PH B744.

I will behave because arcunia gets tired of the boring same old same old.
I don't have to worry anymore whether it is good, bad or indefferent.

PS - it's a dog of a mould and not worth $0.02c.

Well... I'm still waiting for December's release of Thai Airways International A330-343E with Rolls-Royce Trent 772B-60 engines!

Can't wait for any longer!

By the way, does anyone know what Phoenix is going to release for December?

Pls don't be sorry because I'm not. Turning my back on 400scale was very very easy to do.
In fact it was the best decision I've made in a long time and am very happy building my kits.
What I got very tired of was the constant every month "what will it be" questions, and then trying to work out whether to buy or not and the manufacturers that cannot help but bash their competitors (capital yawn!) etc.

I personally think that manufacturers releasing 6-7++ aircraft every month becomes unsustainable for the collectors and in this day and age with other priorities, the crazy costs of some of these little things must take a back seat.

Yesterday I bought a model of the Eurfighter 1/72 to build and it cost A$26.00 and will take great pleasure building it and the many other kits I have in my study.

I just do not see the worth or value in buying 400scale aircraft anymore (200scale even moreso due to stupid high costs for what you get) and at some point, the bubble will burst.

I have to agree with you about that.
Only PHX announced 17! models for the november release.
Not to mention all the other manufacturers.

I would not regret it when it would be a max. of about 8-10 models per release.
There would be more time for that manufacturer to really deliver near
to perfect models without flaws which easily could be avoided.

That also would give the collector not the feeling of becoming covered
with new released models to choose from and can enjoy that long awaited model again.

Sure i know a factory has to make a profit, but there is always the difference between quality and quantity...
Which one would last longest??

CXB77L, I agree on the Dragon Wings having a very good fuselage shape...BUT their cockpit window printing, while being perfectly positioned, has an error as standard on the centre cocpit window colum-it's way too angled-makes the cocpit look wrong, sadly. The MAJOR problem with Dragon is that the wing dihedral is totally exaggerted, but yes, they got the winglets right!

It was time for me to go in another direction therefore I wish you all the very best with your store and the 400scale hobby in general.
PS - the PH B744 is still a dog

I love the ANA 787 but the 787 is much smaller then i thought it would be, I thought the 787 might be the replacement for the 757 but it seems very short, My first 787 from phoenix but will definetly buy more as moe customers recieve there 787s into there fleets.
