Aeroclassics also announced their new mould. It's getting a bit ridicolous.

I would wait for the Aeroclassics version.. it comes complete with props, gears and horizontal stabs

And about the THICKEST wings and H-Stabs I've ever seen! I know both of these are pre-production samples, but right now I'm liking what I'm seeing with Johan's mould. Hopefully, he can fix the Tonka Toy landing gear...

I agree, the JC Wings one is definetely looking better at this stage.

Would love to see this in Philippine Airlines colours!
I also agree with Dylan's criticisms of the AC version, its something I would see as part of Matchbox Skybusters!

Nice, I wasn't expecting the 748 that soon. Competition can be good sometimes...
Looks like everything British will be done before we get something else. What about a Caravelle 10/12, ATR 42/72, Antonov 24, CASA 212, Saab 340, Swearingen Metro ?...

Still looking for following 1/400 models :
AIR FRANCE Concorde F-BVFC & F-BVFD
AIR FRANCE 747 delivery colors F-BPVH
Cascade and Air Virginia were the only US operators of the 748
What about the HS (Hawker Siddeley) 748 though...?
Nice to see the 748 coming to 400 scale, I'd love to see a couple of twin releases featuring this and the Viscount in British Airways negus livery in both British Airways and British versions,

Aeroclassics has just announced the same model wearing the same livery.
And due to "Klein's" beligerence, see above pictures edited off the forum.
I will buy the JC400 version. I just dont see why a manufacturer like this gets away belittling the clientele. It just Sucks BIGTIME!
I only frequent here. I have no desire to look at other forums. So deleted pictures I dont get to see. Go figure?

UAX operated the BAe ATP ... which was the larger descendant of the 748 .... but the 748 was never widely used in north america.
I hope not.
What I don't understand is this replication of the same liveries and types by different manufacturers.
If both had the ability to compliment each other with dirrering moulds and liveries, then the collectors would get what we want, we would be satisfied and they would also get a good return on their investments.
Trying to kill each other off is ridiculous and I suspect the final buying decisions for many in the current financial climate may go down to price competitveness and again JC win in that area also.
I think u/c wise Gavin, the only one they really stuffed up was the FAA Electra. Other releases are no worse than AC's piece of rubber on a metal stick.

The 748 and ATP have seldom been compared within the same discussion, sadly the ATP became something of a laughing stock amongst any of the crews I spoke too, not "advanced" enough apparently and another example of why the UK airliner industry fell on it's arse.
That said, BA had some lovely 'utopia' liveried ATP's, many of which I flew on and a 400 scale mould would certainly go down well in my collection..

IMHO, Electra, F-50, Dash 8, BAC111 - all really great little models that could have been even better with in-scale wheels (more particularly, spacing of the nosewheels).
I sometimes wonder who is actually copying who!! I will wait till the end results of both and with photo's before I commit myself to parting with my cash. I just hope that in the rush to beat each other that they don't forget one major thing, ACCURACY!!

Well we need this type so 2 moulds shud give us plenty of choices. Havent seen the AC pics yet....
Two moulds should give you plenty of the same choices. Two version of each. I think that the JC 748 is a hoax. A photo was taken of an old Aero-Tech or some such travel agency model...no props, no stabs, and non JC wings display stand. The poster has no connection with JC Wings? Or does he? If not then the announcement is not even an offical JC Wings announcement. I smell a rat.

And the photo "presidential" posted was a skyline 1/200 model
That is most probably the $64 dollar question.. but when told something in confidence yer tend to keep it shut..
This has been in the offing for absolutely ages, and where therefore is the Aeroclassics one that JC is supposed to have ripped off.. if that is the master from which a copy has been made then I presume JC must have the only AC plane... cos it has to be in existence for someone to copy it....?
Mention made about the J C Wings FAA Electra... but those are photos lifted from the JCW site as is this 748.... Is the FAA actually out yet..? .and in anycase as you all think its crap, obviously you wont be buying it..

the JC Wings mould is legit ... the aeroclassics one (the one in the photo) is a 1:200 model

I was more referring to copying ideas rather than moulds, but then no single manufacturer has a right for a monopoly on ideas for new models.

I think it's just JC f-king with AK's head. IMO, he has no intention of producing this model, but forced AK to announce his own version, even if he had to present a 1:200 model as his

Speculation will last until the real deal presents itself. My thought was the same as yours regarding the JC mould. Further why would one show a prototype that is not complete? Not props and no stabs. If I made a prototype I would make a complete prototype, especially if I were going to show case it. That is just me but that is why I smelled what I thought was a rat.

maybe because it wasn't publicly released. they posted a photo on their site for themselves ... just because it was found and posted online here et al means nothing
Today I got an email from my australian retailer listing the AC 748 as pre-orders in the BA colours. It showed the picture of the model which was deleted from here.
I will wait for the JC this time as the landor colours seem darker and more accurate. The supposed AC version almost appears like the current BA blue.
The AC version has the wings too thick and the printing is all over the place and it's arzze is too high.
I have made new wheels from plastic for some of my Dragons, Geminis and AC's before so basically if they (JC) get the mould right, I don't give a snog about the wheels coz I'll just make my own.

I would partially agree with that. I don't think EITHER of the photos purporting to be JC or AC's mould are 'samples' of the final thing! I can guarantee that both JC and AC are producing a 748, but I reckon these photos are both designed to try and show what is coming by probably illustrating a travel-agent model and AC with a 1:200 Skyline version, both of which look pretty inferior. I guess that neither company has a real sample ready for the camera, so I don't think we can judge by these photos. Both want to say "I'm first, look at mine" but neither are ready just yet. Great shame that both are planning to do the BA Landor livery. If only they could get along together and not look on eachother as competitors, there would be plenty of 748 liveries for both to agree on doing. Will reserve any judgement until we see photos of both final models.

My thoughts exactly ! Both AC and JC gave us good and bad surprises, so wait and see.

from Wiki:
In October 1983..., N748LL of Air Illinois crashed during a thunderstorm near Pinckneyville, Illinois while performing regularly scheduled flight number 710 between Springfield, Illinois and Carbondale, Illinois. Three crew members and eight passengers lost their lives.
Several weeks after the crash the FAA grounded the company.

Nice picture of the HS748 model above, I take it this is the JC wings final product. I am no -748 expert but at first glance it looks OK to me. I would like to see it from other angles though.

I see the post poppers on the otherside are busy, both the photo I did not get to see of the JC 748 and then my comment re what photo also vanished within a couple minutes!

Damage control mode at full force. I can just picture AK or the LapDog sitting there with their finger on F5....
