Ooh I know. Sure I missed the v Australia and had to get that of you. I'm just hopin that with over 1000 to be released of the -200 and -300 together that there'll be one left over.

100% The CX 777-300 and possibly the SQ A380 I really want it but if I don't have they money then that can wait. But that CX is the top priority (model wise) for this entire month or next month whenever it is released.
So it went in 9 hours. Where else can you get 'em?
Well I think the one's on Air Paradigm went in like 2 hours...You missed out because of the time difference he put up his add thing at 9:30Central Time and 10:30Eastern Time (This is the New York time). So probably 4:30 in the morning for you or something like that.
Looks only about 200 of each CX piece will make it to the States and Canada combined.
Another shortage of supply? Why is this happening to recent sold out during pre-ordering stage, models? Can anyone elaborate?
I missed out on the Air France B77W from Nick, so I had to order it elsewhere and now this..
I look forward to somebody's input.
Cheers,
H

Popular airline, great mould. I am not surprised it sells out fast.
Thank you for your reply.
However, I'm not questioning the selling out bit. I'm querying about how can retailers get shorthanded than the promised number from their supplier?
I didn't technically miss out on the Air France because of the sold out status. Nick and other US retailers only received a certain number of models, than he was promised by his supplier and because of this, some people who pre-ordered missed out. I was one of them.
If the same trend happens for the future releases of the Cathays, as Garudarod predicts and I'm assuming 200 combined is a cut number for US & Canadian retailers, why does this shortage happens?
Regards,
H

Is it known how new releases are allocated to dealers? i.e. are larger retailers allocated greater numbers or is it first come first served though,I expect not. Another thing. Do retailers buy direct from Phoenix or do they go through distributors?.

Phoenix uses a distributor in the U.S and sells direct to Europe. There just
are not that many models being made, so in turn the amount available to
retailers is less. There is no set amount of how many models will be made
available through the distributor network. In this case say there are
200 models available only, which is pretty close to the actual number,
the regular retailers who order the product get first shot at whatever
their allocation is. Then the smaller retailers and so forth. If there are
left over models after going through the retailer list, then those will
be offered to the retailers who have requested more based on the
amount of business they do with the distributor. Some retailers think
they are being smart and will order 6x their normal amount of a hard
to get piece.

Thanks for the quick answer. That explains how Phoenix new models are harder to find on e-bay than say GJ's because GJ use distributors and there are more sellers who buy from a distributor and sell as a part time business. I have looked into it and its quite simple to do, but then what do you do with the not so popular models that don't sell?.

It's not the first time it's happened... take the Air France 777 last month for example. 30 pieces were ordered, only 15 received, 24 orders were taken with 6 left for being "in-stock" once they arrived and for any shortage. So, what does a retailer like me do? You have to get very creative. First thing is, check to see if other distributor in the US has any, and sure enough they do, so I am able to get four through there. Then you start checking throughout the world whether it be retailers or distributors or anyone for that matter. So another three are sourced through Australia so that means only another two more and I'm all set. Found another four through Hong Kong which means now I'm +2 on the count and all is set. Did I make any money on those 9 I had to source throughout the world? Probabaly not. I might have even lossed a dollar or two, but in the end the customer is happy and everyone got their model they pre-ordered... this is also the case of the V Australia...Pepsi Concorde...it's not the first time it's happened with a Phoenix model, and won't be the last.
The same philosophy applies to the Cathay 777, I ordered x amount of pieces, knowing full well I could sell the pieces I ordered. I only put a limited quantitiy up on the website for pre-ordering (which sold out within two hours), knowing full well more then likely the order will be cut down, but it's not a matter of retailers being "smart and ordering 6x" more. If everyone and their grandma wants more of a popular release I order more, if nobody wants any then I order none, simple philosophy of supply and demand. Take a look at the Lion Air 747s, I'm Indonesian and I only want one of the bloody thing that hasn't flown on scheduled service yet. How many other people seriously want two of the things?
there is never enough models because the bitches from hong kong keep hoarding them all, buying from the back door.
Gemini make 1000-2500 of each and sell to distributors of each country or retailers buy from there countrys distributor.
Anybody can buy from phoenix, i have been in talks with them before and was aksed how many of each i wanted straight from the factory, probably why hong kong sellers always have so much stock.
Are there any pics of the 2 SQ A380s by Phoenix? (Singapore Airlines A380 9V-SKB
Singapore Airlines A380 9V-SKC)

Welcome aboard, I was one of those who pre-ordered but didn't get it either.
I really wonder where these models went : we're not talking about a handful of them, but HALF of US allotment which vanished ! And they're sold-out almost everywhere in Europe too.

Can you say "Hong Kong ebayndits"?
If you want to know where the allotment of models has mysteriously "disappeared" to, suggest you wont need to look much further afield than the usual HKG suspects.
Still, i shouldnt worry. Will be easy enough to get an AF 77W in the new livery from PHX.
Should only cost you about US$140.
