Nickster, that is the Dragon Wings, right? My favorite A380 might either be the Qantas or perhaps the UPS, even though it is now a fantasy.

UPS Norm? Just goes to show that we all have different tastes. I do prefer the Asian flight attendants over anything that UPS could offer so perhaps that is skewing my preferance somewhat.

I Still Think Braniffs Are The Most Awsome. Black & Periwinkle To Be Specific. Then Next Would Be Virgin Atlantic, But It's Not Made Yet.
I Have The Original Singapore From DW & It Is Cool. I'm Not Fond Of Those Huge Titles. Kind Of Ruins The Livery.

From a retailers perspective the BN A380s were evil incarnate. The production #s made no sense, the distributor made everybody buy a wheelbarrow full of orange ones to get one black one, yada yada yada.

Let us hope that we don't ever have to live through that insanity again.

Yes It Was Terrible For Collectors Too.. That's Why I Don't Have The Black One.
I Started Collecting Just As These Were Released, But I Had No Interest In The Big Orange For 80 Canadian Dollars, I Had Far More Pressing Priorities As My Collection Was Very Yuong, Less Than A Dozen When The BNs Were Released.
2 Years Later I Got The Watermelon For 40 Bucks, I'd Still Like To Get A Black & Periwinkle But Not At Crazy Prices. I'm Quite Happy With The Single Green One.

That's my favorite in my 1:500 collection. So I would have to agree that the Etihad is in the top 3.

I have to say that the fuselage color on the Etihad fleet is remarkable. Kind of a sparkly light sand color. I may have to switch my 1/500 Etihad A380 to 1/400.....hmmmm.

.....My one and possibly only A380 is the original DW Singapore, but maybe I'm just a little biased since my neice is a "Singapore Girl" (an advertising soon to be phased out... good-bye Singapore girl).
.....I'd be swayed if there was an A380 that wasn't completely white though.

Qantass A380, hands down is the best representation in 1:400.
IMO, Dragon's doesn't get a foot in the door.
Dragon just never improve, the landing gear is so 90's.

I have sold my Etihad DW A-380, because I donnot like the DW models.
I still have one, and that is the Singapore Airlines in the old colours.
Gemini models come in second place, but the best A-380 models for me are made by Phoenix. I really like the Singapore Airlines new colours, and in a month I will be getting the JAL A-380.

Ever since I bought my first A380 from Phoenix, I never looked back. -SKA was my first model and is one of my pride in my SQ collection. SKB and SKC just joined a couple of months ago. A380 of PHX is the best mould out there. GJ on second place due to the wrong front aft section of the airplane. DW dead last because of the squinting cockpit windows. Shame!

No, IMHO the DW a380 is not good. GJ and PHX have far better moulds. The cockpit, engine pylons and the engines are the things that bother me most. I have the SQ "first to fly a380" model and keeping that one as it was the only model with the "first to fly a380". I also had the Etihad, but got rid of it. I'll get another one when Etihad actually has the a380.

the DW cockpit placement it bad, although they have improved slighty in recent times. the best a380 is made by GJ or PH

Blow the cobwebs off these old threads and let's revive them! I have just ONE A380 in my collection, just to represent the type. After reading the comparison threads on 1/400th A380 models, I went for a Phoenix Singapore Airlines one and was not disappointed! It really is superb!

Now where is that GJ January 2006 speculation thread...hmmm must revive that?

Congratulations on a successful resurrection! I too have the PX release Singapore A380, and think it's a great addition to my collection, even though I still don't care much for the WhaleJet. I'll probably add a couple more since I want representation of the type for some of the airline liveries that I collect. But I'm thinking they may have to be GJ, since PX concentrates on Asian liveries.

I have several 1:400 A380's.

I have the British, Emirates, Qatar (All Gemini) and a beautiful Air France (New scheme). Will post pics up later on.

I want: QANTAS, Malaysia (Even though I have them in Hogan 1:200), Singapore, Etihad and Kingfisher. I saw a Kingfisher yesterday but it was $80. So I went with a Gulf Air 777-300 instead for about $50.

...actually while were on the subject.

I have two PHX A388s.

One is the first SQ bird - SKA, and the other is the AF.

The AF is noticeably lighter than the SQ, despite being the same model from the same manufacturer - anyone able to cast any light as to why?

Maybe they hollowed it out to save on shipping costs?

The SQ model is very heavy. I should compare SKA to SKB/SKC to see if there is a difference -- but they are buried somewhere.
