Default AirTran 717 coming soon?

Now that GJ has released the AirTran DC-9, hopefully the 717 is not too far behind. They could use the Phoenix mould. I think this would be a popular release.

Is Phoenix B717 mould good enough, or are there still somewhere need to retool/improve somewhat? I have no idea. B717 expert please.

GJ eventually got the license. So no license issue for ValuJet and AirTran.

AirTran B717-200 and ValuJet DC-9-30 are long overdue!

(As well as any Reno Air MD-80/87/90s )

Thumbs up For Sure

The Airtran 717 has been long awaited for. Although I would like to see it on the Dragon mould. I think it is a better mould. Just my opinion.

Sure thing BlueSky, this is a good idea.

DW can announce it now and then release it some time next year like everything else they announce.

They take forever.

I never said it would be quick, lol. Just that they had the best 717 mould.

I agree.

They have many good moulds that are growing mold.

There is a large volume of good models all mfgs. could release but all we see are these obscure airlines no one ever heard of that have one plane in their fleet and it is supposed to be a fantastic release.

Show us what we request; the DL widgets, BA Landors, NW red tops and everything else that has been requested over and over again.

It is getting boring

The Phoenix 717 has a lot of potential. I have the Qantas and it is a nice model. The nose is a tad off in my opinion, but all and all, it is pretty close to the real thing. The big deficiency on the Phoenix is the landing gear and the lack of detailing around the thrust reversers. However if Gemini were to use their DC-9 landing gear and get the printing a little more detailed, they could turn the Phoenix mold into a real winner.

I spoke with AirTran's marketing director over 3 years ago, and at that time he said that an agreement has been reached concerning license issues with Gemini Jets. Then 3 years go by and nothing. Now there are two manufacturers in the same month selling DC-9's Maybe they are waiting to see if the DC-9 model sells well enough. All I know is that's it's been a long wait and it seems logical to make a AirTran 717 as we now are flying 74 aircraft with one on the way next month. and that IS the largest fleet of that type in the world.
