Smile Does size matter? How big is your collection?

After reading some of these threads, it appears that some of you must have some very very large collections. I was just curious, how many models in your collection (1/400 only please) and what would you most like to see released to add to it. I bought my 1st 1/400 in Oct 99, PAA 747SP and accessory kit, all down hill from there.

I have 234 models and would like to add prop-liners (B-377, DC-7)

GJ 114
DW 76
JX 8
AC 21
SMA 1
Falcon 1
DJ 2
TUC 6
Herpa 2
PHX 3

Red face Not how big, but how you show it off

Size definitely counts, but not as much as one might think. Its mostly how you display it. If you display it in public (such as a street corner) you are likely to receive strange looks, ridicule and an occasional visit from the local constabulary (i.e. me). Displaying its size in private (your home or a club) is better than displaying it in public. It is best to display it to someone else in a one-on-one basis. Nothing is more gratifying than displaying it to a young lady you hope to impress and hear her declare, "Oh my God! I had no idea yours was so big!" Never - I repeat, NEVER - display its size to a child. This may make the child want to play with it, which is just WRONG on many levels. The child may break something, for Heaven's sake! To share your size with others is most safely done over the web. Simply apply your photographic skills and upload images of your massive display for the world to gawk and compare.

Most importantly, remember that he who dies with the most planes is still dead. But he has happy heirs. Unless he's an a$$hole and has 'em buried with him (you know who you are!).

I had over 500 four months ago. I'm slowing down since I realized that most of them will stay in boxes.
I'm planing to collect only planes flown on, South-Americans, Alaskas and turboprops.

I have between 175 and 200 1/400s, mostly retro liveries and mostly from the US. I'd really love to see regionals like EMB-120s.

Default Eight?

Well, converting from 1/600 was definitely the right thing to do. But watch out--it can be really addictive: 1,807 currently on hand, more on the way...and that's just 1/400.

Default to many to count

Once I receive the last of my orders for this month the number should be around 750 to 800.
Any DC-10 or 727 would be a nice addition to my collection.

I own just one model outright (1) Schabak 1:600 IL-62 CSA

The other roughly 2500 models in my collection 1:400, 1:200,1:144 and 1:100 models are all on a four year lease and have to be given back to the lease company or their respective manufacturers thereafter...

I have about 200 1/400th scale GJ's AC's and SMA's, I had one A321 from DW but I threw it away...plastic yuck!

My new thig is 1/18 scale EXOTO cars, if anybody here is into diecast car collecting, listen to my advice and stay away from them, at $150-$200 a pop they will eat you alive. Some of the detailing is absolutely amazing, I have a couple of Sauber C9's that are out of this world....they make a 1/10 scale Ford Daytona GT that is out of this world for about $750...

I collect die cast cars...bascially stick to ERTL's affordable American Muscle series and when I feel like spending a little I go after GMP's Turbo Buicks and GTO's. I have about 40 1/18 scale cars and 18 1/24 cars....with these cars, you tend to run out of room real fast.

Right now I have around 800 1/400, of course a mix from all the quality mfrs. Basically all GJ, DW, AC, SMAC.

1/200 StarJets = 12, I'd have more if they made more.

1/200 Hogan = 10, only because they have a wider selection than StarJets

1/200 InFlight 200 = 1 PA 707

Hasegawa kits = lost count and decals out number the kits

Kits 1/144 = many, 1/100 = few, 1/72 = fewer.

And running out of space, money and loosing my mind.

96 1:400 models, including some duplicates. My focus is on airliners that flew into JFK in the late 70s and early 80s, so it helps to reign in my spending.

125+ in 1/400 & approx. 25 in 1/500 since I starting collecting in May 2003. Gave up my compulsive gambling addiction problem to only start a new complusive addiction in a smaller scale. I think this addiction is worse then a gambling addiction. Surely has become more expensive But none the less a worthwhile investment. I find my self hidding all the great new release purchases from my family. I think I need some serious help!!!

We need more regional jets in UA, DL, CO livery!!!

You guys, try out the Kyosho's 1/12 scale cars . I have a Ferrari F-50 (awesome) BMW Z8, Aston Martin Vanquish and waiting for my F-40 Ferrari. Wonder how big a 1/12 plane would be, now where would I put that? HmMMMMMM.

I started collecting diecast airliners around 1977-78, my collection has over 1000. About 980 of them (all 400 scale) are in mint condition and still in original packaging. I am in the process of planning a mega model airport since my wife actually gave me permission to use one room in our basement.

Collecting 1/400 since 1998: no idea how many have been purchased over the years, many have been given as gifts, others having been traded or customized. Presently have 21 models on display, about 25 more in storage. Not much room to show them off, but this helps limit spending to only a few select models that fit into my collection (heck, it's difficult enough to exercise restraint when it comes to buying model aircraft).

Have another four 1/200 airliners but of course these are in storage, for similar reasons.

To round things out, a 1/144 Herc and a 1/72 fighter are also on display in other areas of my place.
