Yep that's quite a lot of money..... however, the Aeroclassics Avianca B747-200 goes for more than this each time (double even).....also AC Varig 747-300 and 747-400 too go for top $$

I've seen Aeroclassics Olympic 747-200's going on on ebay in excess of 300USD (could've even been more than 400USD.
Ebay user tristar250 had one, but it was quite a while ago.
I have the white NASA 747, I got the set for around 20AUD but the shuttles tail is broken, hope to fix it oneday.

I remember back in the late 90's early 2000's when some of the stuff went for alot more! People used to go wild over the GJ Braniff 747 Orange Pumpkin club model as well as many others!

I sold my AC United Caravelle on eBay a few years ago for $500 - not kidding! Definitely agree with the "pot luck" comment above though. You can see some crazy prices come out of two people that go full-blown tunnel vision in a bidding war (which is what I think happened with the Caravelle).

Also - not a 1:400, but I saw the Gemini200 Delta 757-200WL colors in motion livery sell on eBay a few weeks ago for $1500! I mean holy crap that's crazy

I paid over US$300 for the GJ Braniff B747 club model, way back in 2001. In today's terms that would be equal to US$800.

I also paid US$200 for the GJ Qantas B747-400 Formula 1 and US$175 for the GJ BA B747-400 Hong Kong tail.

Looking back, I can see how foolish I was.

Sadly, I had to pay for my DW NASA 747 with Space shuttle quite a few $$$ bucks on eBay. The seller agreed to the best offer so no bidding wars for me.

Off the top of my head, this BigBird South African 747 generally does quite well when it shows up. Aeroclassics did a model of this Air Bahama DC-8. I have one in a storage. I don't think any more than 40 were made. I saw one sell for $400 USD, a few years ago.

How about this 1/400 dragon soyuz? lol. This is one of the rarer dragon one also. It took me a long time to find one and bought it like 4 yrs ago. I didn't pay anywhere even close to this though.

Those were completely weird times. Literally everything off-normal, either if declared a “limited edition”, “special release” or popular fantasy livery (remember the fantasy Braniff fleets, even with golden fuselage etc.) sold for several hundred US Dollars. Compared to the late 1990s and early 2000s, the 1/400 scale “craziness” is dead. And it’s good the way it is. Wish history wouldn’t repeat again and again. 1/200 scale isn’t as crazy as one 1/400 was, but it’s probably only because of the higher prices and bigger models…

I had those 2 and many gems back in the 1:400 collecting days. Some of the original decaled Aeroclassics I got quite a bit for back then. All in all when selling about 4,000 to 5,000 on my own years back I probably broke even as the last 1,350 I had, I sold to Waffle as I started getting scammed on Ebay and was tired of doing all the shipping, communication, etc. Out of the 1,350 were some real gems as those are the rarer ones of the collection I kept until the end. Some on here benefited I'm sure. Waffle made it so easy! Sure I could have sold the remaining 1,350 and made more, but retailers got to make some money too! For every out of the park to the moon sale one makes there are 25 to 50 that are okay! I got my money out of the total lot when averaged out!

anyone else here into dragon wings stuffs? most of my 1/400 are dragons. I think dragon has a lot of neat releases even if their moulds are out of date. And they are still the only one with removable gears for most of their rels for 1/400!

Ebay market can get pretty crazy sometimes, if you're lucky enough (as a seller) you can end up with a bidding war between two/three buyers that can skyrocket the price of your model.

Well the most valuable 1/400 model I own is the Aeroclassics decaled BEA Vanguard 953 G-APER according to the collection manager. I have the NASA 747 with shuttle "Enterprise" and the "Endeavor" shuttle with landing gear which I didn't pay much for either.
.... I probably have some models that have higher value due to collectors' high level od wanting them. Since I'm selling off parts of my collection, maybe I'll find out what models are in high demand.
Dave (the NASA models are staying put however)

Yup, crazy I'll agree! At one time I had a huge 1:400 collection with many sought after ones! Glad I moved them on for others to enjoy! Some brought high prices and some I couldn't give away...all in all I would say it all balanced out in the end where I broke even or lost a small percentage. Can't say that for all hobbies!

Man some prices are crazy.
But if you are looking for an old model that has 0.0000001 % chance for re-release ... there is no other option.
It resumes at how much you want it and how much are you willing to pay.

For example i am looking for Aeroclassics 1:400 Tarom A310 and Tu-154. I cant find them at all.

Same for the 2 models in 1:200 by Inflight200 Tarom 737 700 and 800.
Did not even saw one on eBay in years.

And now i start to think about the GeminiJ / NG Trump 757 in 400 or 200.
I never cared about that model, but after the clown fiesta Americans did at the start of the year i started to want that model.

The prices ... + shpping to East Europe = insane

I got an Aeroclassics 747-200 Aerolineas Argentina a while ago for $50 because the HF antennas on the wings were broken. I still think that was a good deal

$444.00usd for a Gemini Jets sample model of the fantasy 1:400 British Airways Boeing 742 in the "Bauhaus" scheme, one of only six I believe, crazy days back in 2010's. Bought from the great advocate of 1:400 BA models, Bentseliki, shame he left the hobby. I gather he used the money to repair his Mercedes!!

Do you mean rare or most expensive?
I've thought of this list considering both.
Top 10:
1. viasa
2. Qantas VH-EBR
3. Avianca
4. Olympic airways (appears quite often but very expensive)
5. Aer Lingus
6. Boeing N7470
7. 4X-AXZ (not necessarily expensive, but rare).
8. Air New Zealand (delivery c/s)
9. CP air 747's (appear quite a bit but very expensive)
10. Evergreen 'supertanker'.

I think you'll find that many AV400, witty and Apollo 747's are much rarer.

i was expecting to see on the list the viasa and the aer lingus 747
but the 4x-axz had no idea that it is even rare same thing for the air new zealand 747 delivery livery

for how much does it most time sold?

They rarely appear in ebay auctions, or anywhere for that matter which is why I put them on the list.
Hard to get an estimate, but I don't think 4x-axz would be that expensive, just very rare. The people who own these models dont want to give them up!
An the cycle eventually comes to an end and they become harder and harder to find.

Yes,

The CP747 birds costed me a fortune but they really worth it.

Yes it is! It very rarely appears on ebay, and when I does it goes for quite a lot.
Luckily I have a friend who will sell it to me when he gets the chance (mates rates).
Those bare metal RB221's are friggin' gorgeous.

I would add the Lan 747, maybe the Iberia 747, and some US 747s; I've seen some United Saul Bass, Northwest red tail & American Airlines 747s go north of 200-250 usd, big bird/aeroclassics mould of course.
Also Waffle has an Air France 747-100 listed in 250 usd.

Ummm, depends what you mean by cheap? the recent Iran Air 747-200 (EP-IAI), British Caledonian 742 and TAP 742 are still relatively easy to find.
