Default Two New 400 Scale Moulds from JC Wings

JC Wings have a massive mould back catalogue but that isn't stopping them from producing new moulds such as the 747-400F interactive that Gemini is just about to use. They also just confirmed to me the contents of a photo I'd seen with two more new 400 scale moulds in it - read on for more:

Since when is a Tu-204 bigger than an A310??? I may be wrong but it seems to me that this one is for 1:200… I’m probably mistaken as I didn’t talk with JC obviously tho… Looking forwards to that A310

Nice to see a new classic mould.
I wouldn't mind upgrading my A310s, specially the older GJ versions, also that Ecuatoriana would be a killer.

Yeah I know. The photo is weird but I asked and they said both 400 scale. Guess we'll see in time

Tu-204 tend to get bigger the closer they are to a camera sensor while A310s do the opposite when they get farther from the sensor.
Not an isolated problem for those two types though.

I'm sure that there will be a long series of UPS and FedEx A310s from Gemini if that mould sees the light of day soon.

I'm curious to see the A310 in a better picture. I could use some on a real good mould.
Image distortion aside, those engines look not very promising.

The Tu-204, well, I wonder what takes so long to get a mould to market - I take it this was started long before NG took the market. One year or more for a new mould, in times of CAM? Really?

That 1/200 is a CF6-50 powered 747-200F, not a -400F btw..

I'm hungry for more 747 classics in 1/400.
Jonatan, Tris10&11 and Phantom II like this.

A second 1/400 Ty-204 seems like such a wasted effort. I can only imagine they've been developing this for a while and got beaten to the line by the unknown NG entry. Pity it wasn't a Ty-114...

The A310 is an odd choice too, as AC has this mould pretty much sewn up. An A300 perhaps would have done better as the (still excellent) AC mould is an older cradle style that people might have been a bit more interested in replacing. Go figure.

Not everyone in this hobby has been collecting since the early 2000s - there is plenty of market for new moulds and new copies of schemes that have already been made, if the subjects are popular subjects. A lot of people want classic aircraft but don't want to pay $60-80 for a 1/400 A310 just because it's OOP.

The Aeroclassics A310 has only been around since 2016 and they have made almost everything. It's not like JC or Gemini are going to produce more than 5-10 models a year using any new classic mould anyway so I tend to agree with Ty-114. You'll be waiting 5 years for more than a handful of A310s and given the larger production runs of JC at least 80% of all A310s aren't getting made anyway

As Richard observes, the AC A310 is only 5 years old and the Ty-204 is even newer so I don't understand your point.

The AC A300 OTOH is considerably older and many of those releases are very hard to get. The Air Niugini Bird of Paradise springs to mind.

My point is that there was also the Dragon A310 of the early 2000s and the Gemini, which doesn't seem to get used much.
