Here’s a model that Richard Stretton should add to his database of Zinc Rot infested models.

It is an AeroClassics Lufthansa B720B (D-ABOH).

It is up for sale on eBay. The seller describes the model as being in good condition and inspected prior to listing.

The seller has an unbelievable eBay feedback score of 28,922 with 100% positive feedback. He is an experienced diecast aircraft seller and he has listed a huge amount of models. Yet he can’t see those cracks anywhere! This is amazing!

Quite noticeable zinc rot is apparent on the fuselage and wings. Photo 3 shows how extensive the zinc rot is.

Here’s the auction. Let’s see if this one can sell for more than the PIA B747-200. Good luck bidding!

Yeah my D-ABOH rotted as well. Ended up getting a 1:200 B720B to replace it.

I've bought from him many times with no issues.

That is bad. Those cracks are so obvious. I have bought from him once but he hasn't got a leg to stand on selling that in good condition.

"Please note: there are no zinc rot cracks on this plane" - Geez mate, do you need glasses or what??
I hope that's a typo and that he meant to say 'no' as in 'number of', but who knows...

I have purchased from this guy on eBay previously with NO problems, but it seems that zinc rot is the elephant on the table. Model manufacturers and in this case, hobbyists, refuse to acknowledge the problem - 'Take the money and run' remains the reality, Doug

Yeah I messaged him and he denied that it had zinc rot, sent me the same pics from the listing

Oh well. He still has other stuff that I'd buy.

you got that right...manufacturers are living the dream from all the money stolen from those production runs 10 plus years ago. I love flying on the Gemini corporate jet. I think Andrew is looking to upgrade his too.
