Default Gemini Jets innovates and others follow

So is this a technological breakthrough or a new fashion trend or an attempt to save one cent per model?

As far as I know, Gemini Jets pioneered this, followed by AeroClassics and now NG Models.

I am getting models that at first glance, (whilst inside their boxes) appear to be in immaculate condition but when taken out of their boxes the wings fall apart.

My AeroClassics Croatia A319 and now NG Models Qatar A350-900 both arrived with detached wings. Please see the attached photos.

Is this a new 21st century fashion or some technological breakthrough or is it an effort at saving the cost of glue worth a cent?

Who is next to follow this trend?

Yep, the cost of glue just keeps going up. So far, I've had this problem more with NG than anyone else...4 NG's, only 1 Gemini and only 1 Aeroclassic.

Maybe NG stands for "No Glue"

GJ must stand for 'Glue Jeopardy'...

Hey, if you save half of a cent per model that adds up... say you eleases 800 units of each model, 8 releases per month, 12 months, that is already 76.800 models, if you add in 1:200 that would be a savings of a few thousand $$ per year. If you will sell out the whole stock glue or no glue and you don't care about your brand image, it is a no brainer to reduce glue!

You are correct. It is a JC Wings model. Sorry.

I am glad that I corrected the name of the Croatia Airlines manufacturer from AeroClassics to JC Wings just in time. Otherwise Andrew Klein would have threatened me with a legal notice.

It frustrates me that this issue hasn’t been widely addressed in the industry, as I think enough of a stink has been made in the community for a while now. Yes, I know how bad shipping can be on these models (I’ve had a model come broken because of this) but I doubt it’s a super frequent instance.

Is it an easy fix? Yes. Do I think it is necessary for us to do it? Not at all. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again; we pay a premium for these things, we expect premium quality. When it’s not the case, there will be a few people who will speak up about it.
Retro-Models and MROC-SJO like this.

Easy fix as long as there are no paint chips... Just as my Pan Am B747SP, which arrived with both horizontal stabs detached and paint chips all over that area... no way to fix that... Requested a replacement. Waited for a whole month. US retailer said he sent it, but I never received a confirmation with the tracking number. Then he said USPS lost the package and sent me what seemed to be an old/archived tracking number. Requested a refund. Offered me other models that were not of my interest. I declined. He said he was going to issue a refund and send me a "third" shipment which NEVER arrived, as I expected. NO confirmation. NO tracking number. NO follow up. Fortunately, I received my refund. However, the model never showed up.
Unpleasant situations just like that one could be avoided IF proper attention is ever paid to this issue.

That's a shipment issue. Paint won't come off like that if there's no glue

The box had no damages. Retailer said the model was inspected. The top antenna was also missing. Maybe not enough glue was applied, or glue was applied in the wrong area. This reminded me a little bit of the GJ American B738 chrome which almost everyone received in pieces. Mine had paint chips in the wing joints.
I believe if enough glue had been applied, those wouldn't have come off like that.

I've always judged the glue issue based on how often it happens. My NG's rarely ever come like this. The Geminis however are a coinflip if they will be glued properly or not. As for when it happens to NG/GJ, I usually don't care for glue issues so long as it can be fixed easily. If a paint chip happens as a result, I just contact my retailer and have a replacement sent to me.

Recent example was the NG Alaska Oneworld arrived with a poorly glued wing that caused a small paint chip near the wing join - my retailer (Waffle in this case) was more than happy to send out a replacement.

This is my first NG that arrived like that, and the first time I ever had to request a replacement since other models I have received were easy to get fixed. Will never buy a single model from DG Pilot again. I realized he didn't care at all.
