Default Aeroclassis B727-100 ATA/BA

It is my understanding that this is an exclusive release on 400SH.

You don't, probably.

Also, I might be seeing something, but is that engine upside down?

I think the right hand engine should be on the left and probably the left should be on the right. AK is not going to be best pleased seeing this. Let’s hope this is just a one off.

Comparing mine with a recent AC Icelandair example, the engines appear to be the right way up. Certainly that lower 'banana curve' seems to be beneath and not atop the cowling.

The engines indeed appear to be attached in their correct place, it's just the mould which is basically totally off in most all areas aft of the wing (v.tail shape and area, #2 exhaust size and engine angles)

While this isn't exactly news, I'd be more concerned with the titles on this one.
Blue colored post 1997 Utopia-Style?
I'd expect it to carry black colored titles in the proper Landor font.

Should be midnight blue as per the Landor scheme. The text font is indeed the current Mylius font a bespoke font that came with the Utopia project. It's predecessor was similar but also bespoke with slightly different serifs. The darker blue would be the main improvement to this though.

Does GJ even still have their 721 mould (I assume they never bothered to update it)?
We definitely aren't spoilt for choice with 727-100 moulds nowadays are we?

Even though the GJ 727-100 mould isn't perfect either, In my humble opinion it is better than the AC mould

I made a custom one last year. I was hotly anticipating the AC version to see how they compared. I’m quite pleased with my effort.

Very nicely done Jim. I’d give it 10/10.

Looks like I will have to do a custom,
Why is it so effin difficult to get a model that should have been on general release with the ATA 727. No response to requests on 400 SH,
What is the point?

It isn't alone. Take the Air North HS.748 release for example... Is that your livery or someone else's? Someone that was never released at all, even as a Hangar Club model. I feel your pain.

I briefly missed out on the AC BA Landor ‘Worlds Biggest Offer’ DC10. Supposedly only 80 were made and if you’re not checking forums or dealer websites 24/7, then you infuriatingly miss out.
I managed to get one from the US, which had a € price sticker on it. So this model went from China, to somewhere in Europe, then to the US and finally to me in the UK. Sincere apologies for its carbon footprint.

Hopefully in correspondance now re buying one of these.
Have to confess - what a weird way to buy a model, all seems very "cloak and dagger"

Great little model. I agree can be hard to get but that's the way of things nowadays it seems.

You can apply for membership of the 400 Hangar Club. Seats are limited though. Some time ago, they had a few vacancies because some members had left.

Club models are released occasionally. In the past, some releases were obligatory to buy. Other releases were optional. So membership implied a certain commitment. Not sure what is today's policy.

Releases are often interesting hybrid schemes and come in limited numbers with a numbered card.

This ATA/BA B721 model was released in 48 copies. The title has the same blue colour as the cheat line and tail logo. When looking at pictures of the real aircraft, I think this is correct. If that blue colour is "spot on", that is open for discussion [as it is for many other models].

Overall, it is worth joining the Hangar Club when the opportunity comes by. It is a great initiative where 1/400 enthusiasts put a lot of energy and effort in our hobby!

I still dislike the Aeroclassic 727s.... I still hope for NG to release a decent one.

Out of curiosity, in all the pics I've seen it always is a standard Landor font in the usual black ("midnight blue") color. Would you have a link to a good pic where it actually looks blue?
Kudos to jimcannon for having the font correct on his custom. And I think I also see the correct color there.

This is a very clear picture, confirming indeed the different colour of the titles. My earlier remark therefore is not correct.

Thanks for specifying!
