Default The dragster has landed

This much anticipated release from Gemini came a few days ago.
Really happy about this one, seeing it in person definitely upped a bit of a down week.
Enjoy the pics!
I would like to see GJ use their 727 mould more, and would like to see releases of USA jet, RIO cargo, cargojet just to name a few.

What is going on with the cockpit windows? They look rather low on the starboard side. I hadn't seen that in the photos of this model before?

Hmmm, it appears you are correct upon closer inspection.
The cockpit windows appear to be printed in a a bit of a slanted manner, anyone have photos of theirs from the front?

the tires don't look the best too, not the best looking model from a front-on view.
Looks 8/10 from the side though, which is the view I like.

Looks like the work of a factory worker frantically trying to meet production goals. Sorry to see that you receive this kind of quality. Like jcahea said, enjoy it from afar, as that's what we should settle for with the kind of money we pay these days. Not sure if you'll have any luck with attempting to exchange yours for another copy.

Looks like I got a dud example based off this video? (In regards to the tires).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jj1QtcH7tU
Do the cockpit windows look like they're correctly printed?
Not sure it's worth contacting the retailer for an exchange, as they don't seem to have any left.

I was actually wanting to get this model and from Brad's photo's in the beginning, the model looked awesome! Till it got to the cockpit windows. So i might think carefully now about buying this! Trust Gemini to have f***d this one up!!!

This is why I switched to 200 scale. Their larger scale 727 moulds are so much better than the 400's. Same story with several other airframes as well.

How about in Piedmont colors N838N? That's the DB Cooper plane too..we need a Piedmont 727 in the last scheme as well.

good choice not to buy. I too never purchase 400 scale models based on zoomed in close ups that totally over exaggerate something that would not normally be seen.. (this answer does not excuse the CRj 900 gear and stabilizers!)

They made the airframe DB Cooper was on, but not in the livery it wore at that time.

As we're talking 727s. When will there be a good 2021 standards mould in 1/400? So many liveries I'd want.

I agree. Detail is very important and I don’t think we should let QC issues slide. The windows are bad but probably not bad enough to not get a model that may never be made again 1:400. With that said, those windows do have poor placement

Making a 727 winglet mould would be a great way to lose money unless you were going to do lots more with other 727s.

The accuracy of the 200 scale compared to 400 is always clearly evident. The problem with 200 scale is you need a place that is equivalent to a warehouse to be able to display them!

However, with 200 scale, I am a lot more selective about what I buy partially due to the issue you bring up. With 400 scale, I tended to purchase first, then ask questions later (why did I buy this? Should I get rid of this? Why didn't I wait for photos before buying? etc.).

I like to remind people that it may be double the scale, but that means they take up 8x the space, since everything's doubled in 3 dimensions.

There are more potential liveries for the 727-200WL, than there are for the Tu204, and that isn't even factoring in if NG made a 722, than all they would need was the different wing tooling, and if they made a 'super 27', the JT8D-200 tooling.
I happen to have the only 1/400 727W/L ever made.
Here's some liveries that would be top sellers...

But the Tu-204 has way more appeal to the NG customer base since its a unique type that no one else has ever made, and it represents airlines that are of interest in Asia.

Yes, that is the only known 727 winglet release in 1:400.

Here's a photo of the real aircraft, a few days after she left OSC wearing her updated titles, do you prefer the updated titles, or the older ones?

Is it really a wise *** comment to avoid buying an expensive model that may have comically obvious flaws? Not everyone likes to display a model on a shelf from one angle along with 500 others where such lapses in quality might be missed. That is one valid way of collecting but not the only one.

We don't know the actual rate of defects for this production run but I'd certainly think twice about buying a model with a chance of having such a comically inaccurate error.

I would still rather buy the GJ 727s than AC 727s. At least the landing gear on GJ samples doesn't immediately disintegrate, less noticeable seam, aerials, and they don't get color errors or fantasy registration printings sold off as real historic models

Observable defects are not fake news. I bought this model. Once I reattached the separated nose gear and the loose ariels, the model certainly is respectable.

Everyone sit back and watch carefully, this is a situation we call provocation and the inevitable reaction, we're gonna get ejumacated here! All over a small piece of zinc in the shape an airplane.

I start taking it seriously when I get called a wise ***!! I've contributed to this forum enough and interact well with everybody ( well there are exceptions!) but certain people need to realise that I've given loads of good compliments and positive feedback on models. I also qualify to give my opinion considering I've been with this hobby for a very long time now and have supported these very same companies that dish out sh***y comments like this!.I want to move on now! I don't come on here for this!

Only quoted what a true wise*** would say. Your not so innocent....
Ill be the first to admit there are issues with certain models which are well played out here and the topics are never deleted, but there is nothing wrong with this model...

Like I said, dont buy it....

Most would agree with you. You could have made the same comments about a poorly made Panda model and most likely nobody would care. Maybe one guy would chime in with you and predictably use the word bottomfeeder. But we are talking about a Gemini Jets model here, and along with AeroClassics, they are the most respected diecast model makers in human history. I've been collecting long enough to know that revealing any flaws of these majestic brands is like pouring lime juice and cayenne pepper on an open wound for some people.

Unlucky for the OP to receive the model that he did. I'm sure 99% of the production run was fine.

Not sure why the mod has to even bring up the subject of topic deletions. Photos of collectors' models are great feedback (not that GJ participates on this forum or anything silly like that). I appreciate that threads are generally not deleted on this forum, unlike at that other forum.
