Default Are there QA issues or is it just my bad luck?

Hi all, hope you are all well! (just joined the forums here )

I had a burning question and was keen to get views and thoughts from everyone on this forum.

As a long time collector, who has recently got back into looking for models - I was super excited at first, but this has somewhat been a mixed experience for me.

I am not sure if its just my luck, but I was keen to know how common it is to get faulty models?

For instance, I've recently purchased 5 new models from different manufacturers and 4 out 5 of them had faults e.g. mold issues, chipped paint, bent wing etc..

It of course made me feel a bit disappointed and wonder if there is any QA done by these manufacturers, given that models do cost a lot more than they did years back.

It's also made me feel a lot more hesitant, but keen to know if its just my bad luck or if others have had similar experiences?

QA is variable but that sounds like bad luck. Then again it depends what you consider to be a fault.

The models on the whole are no less well put together than they have ever been and QC hasn't materially improved or gotten worse I'd say.

I have recieved many models from sellers all over the world, but never have I had that many with issues. Maybe a little paint chip on one of the models or a vertical stabilizer that came loose, but no more than that. Looks like you have a lot of bad luck...

I have never received a broken model (I only have a few models though), although one time I took out one of the gear and glued it in because it was loose. 4 out of 5 models having issues is really bad luck.

I would only consider an issue if the model was broken somewhere, had a paint chip, or had serious mold issues, like the landing gear was on backward.

NG Models is usually the best out of all the manufacturers for 1/400, although more expensive.

Good luck collecting!
