If the picture on DiMA is to be believed, it is the latest scheme with the thin billboard titles.

And that's why I only have no Phoenix 747's.. In fact, I only have 2 Phoenix models: Western Pacific 737-300 N949WP "Simpsons", and Airtran 717-200 N949AT "Orlando Magic"

Sadly they seem to sell. It seems a good % of collectors will buy anything if it is in the colours they want.

So far this year I've acquired nearly 60 400 scale models and not a single one has been from Phoenix. It's not like I don't collect Chinese airlines as well so it isn't just that they produce a monotonous stream of Asian modern aircraft. It is just that the majority of what they produce is made better by other brands. My Phoenix purchases bear this out:

2013: 19 Models
2016: 13 Models
2018: 3 Models
2020: 2 Models

AV400, Panda and NG are just doing it better nowadays.

Another interesting release especially with those JAS and Solaseed as well as that Oneworld RAM, other than the 747 being not so great.

They are clearly making as many models as possible, before NG announces their 747 mould. Especially now they use their 747-200 mould again.
Unfortunately their 747-200 seems to have the same flaws as the 747-400.

Dang they still haven’t fixed it? Guess if it sells well, then Phoenix has that attitude of “if it sells well, don’t fix it”.

Phoenix makes so little of most models that regardless of if they are popular or not, they will sell out at launch. Just look at how many from a few months ago are still available at retailers...

That's interesting. I thought Phoenix runs were quite large. How many models would you say a typical Phoenix release gets?

I don't know exactly how many are made, but it is definitely less than all their competitors. Most of the Phoenix stock stays in Asia, and tend to sell out even faster there. If I don't order on day one, I won't get any, and there are almost always cuts on most models for a big order. Models that are on the lower end of popularly will barely sit for a few months, and the popular models such as the Qatar A350 and BA 777 will barely make it past the pre-order stage, even with the arguably inferior molds.

One company that sells out very fast, even with their relatively high manufacturing quantities is JC Wings. There has been many times, where the distributor has told me that the model has sold out within 2 hours of the launch email. One day, they have 100 in stock, the next day, they have none. Most popular JC Wings Models goes though multiple reproductions, and this is not very well known. The Star Wars 1:400 Virgin Atlantic just finished its re-production, and even then it sold out even before being finished. Currently, the FedEx MD-11 Panda 1:200, Her Art Here California 1:200, Prime Air 737 1:200, LATAM Star Wars 777-300ER are just a few notable examples of models that are re-entering production.

With the 747 mould, yeah it's not good, but when there's nothing else available it'll do until something better comes along. I flew on a 747-400 to China with KLM in the scheme before the latest one and you couldn't find one in 1/400 anywhere. Phoenix produced one, so picked it up and at least I have one in my collection now.
