Default Jet Hut - New Brand, New Mould & New Concept

I can almost hear the backlash that this post will elicit from the usual suspects along the lines of:
  • we don't need another 787
  • there's no originality
  • that model looks awful
  • this isn't new

etc etc etc

But regardless I would like to present a new manufacturer and what I consider to be a new and innovative concept in 400 scale - namely entry level models that are reasonably accurate and actually look like models, not toys. I'll start with an introductory post explaining the background and tomorrow I'll take a closer look at the first mould:

Just when you don't think the scale of 1/400 couldn't get any more interesting... Great write up Richard. I'm looking forward to your inspection. Won't it be interesting to see if and how this will change the behavior of your current discerning 1/400 collector? All the best.

edit:

After looking at the pictures more, minus antennas, it looks a lot like the current GJ 787 mould they insist on continuing to use. I can't wait to see what the undercarriage looks like.

Sounds interesting, so long as they stay in that price bracket, it’ll be successful enough. Maybe this will also finally encourage manufacturers like GJ & PH to update some of their moulds to a better standard.

I'd love to see a 6 pack of united, delta, and southwest 737s to fill out some dioramas.

It has been suggested that this is the same factory as is behind the De Agostini magazine models, which it may well be. The packaging is quite similar but I have never seen the JAL 787 from De Agostini in the flesh. I have asked for clarification.

They should make regional jets, a Jet Hut Crj900 or CRJ200 could compete quite nicely with the current offerings on the market

Interesting, if any of their future models look any good I'll consider them. If they make regionals then Gemini is bound to get angry.

100% agreed. Would love to see what they could offer with those kinds of aircraft.

I've seen other 1:400 models of mostly Japanese airliners on ebay in similar packaging

Yes those are the De Agostini magazine models. I am getting more info but it does seem this new brand are the people making those models. If so they already have a selection of regional moulds available.

I'm finding out more as I write so I hope to update you more soon.

Looks interesting. Given the aim (quality, release schedule, range of products) and retail price, they could be focusing on filling the gap left by Schuco/Schabak in the first decade of this millennium. Maybe it’s time for a new beginning in this segment...

Whom are you referring to as for ‘competitors’, ruscollector? And for what reason did Crownvic (the real ‘Rus(s)’) edit your post?

It was edited because looking at post history a few individuals here have an agenda. It was modified as being irrelevant to the subject matter therefore done to not stray from the subject matter. If there is a problem with that you can pm me.

I like the concept behind Jet Hut as our models are getting so expensive. A lot of seasoned collectors including myself would get these just cause they so much cheaper. We are in desperate need of quality models that are cheaper, so I am excited for these and hope this brand is successful!

I don’t really understand that ‘a few individuals here have an agenda’ thing but I was asking ruscollector and was more interested in his statement concerning the possible competitors for Jet Hut. Thanks for your comment anyway.
