I’m curious whether the new 737NG moulds may be a collaborative effort between Panda and NG since both are coming out with new ones here. I haven’t compared so this is pure speculation.

No they aren't - they are different. Panda and NG do not share moulds

Like I said, pure speculation.

Panda‘s doing a new -600? Because the old one clearly doesn‘t look like it has anything in common with an ng mould...

Why should we care about that? The airlines buy any old **** as Cathay has shown with their Herpas over the years. I'd prefer a company that 'Was made for collectors by collectors'....oh wait

I gotta second that, they aren’t really “Made For Collectors, By Collectors” anymore... they should just get rid of that phrase from their boxes.

“As Real As It Gets” should be changed or removed completely too because these days I’ve seen almost the complete opposite of that on a lot of newer models... not saying all of them are affected but there’s an overwhelming majority that don’t fit that criteria very well.

Yet every month you are the first to ask when and where the next Gemini announce releases and corresponding photos are. You even prepared a schedule to let everyone know when....Quite hypocritical I must say.

Kind of ironic how he was acting super tough earlier and then asked you "please delete everything i posted thanks" no?

While many, including myself, were pleased to see the new NG Ty-204, it's now troubling to learn that there is a competing version about ready to be launched. Since moulds don't appear overnight, I wonder if the efforts to produce the Ty-204 were indeed by their own research, or some backdoor industrial espionage? These types of questions need to be answered, because if the latter, the guilty parties need to be properly sorted. With all the different aircraft types out there, there starts to be a lot of coincidence with new mould releases, such as this Ty-204, the recent AC & NG L-1011s, and even going way back, the AC & Tucano Ty-154. The latter case was settled amicably.
That is our good friend Karma right there.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Good!!!! And sorry to say it, but good riddance too!! He obviously came on here, just to throw the cat among the pigeons and basically to gob off about stuff he didn't even know about!! He's not even a GJ representative any longer and didn't make any contribution to making any constructive remarks. No big loss imo!!

Just a question (without trying to start WW3), is there anywhere on the forum we can put requests now? Also, I heard we will get hints tomorrow, anyone know anything?

As of this evening, comments by GeminiMD11 and responses are still here. Some members didn't check back in the thread, apparently. Maybe the removal didn't take on your computer? But Dan not posting anymore is good news in any event.

What 'privacy' you could be talking about, I don't know. This a public forum. People's comments that are visible here are a public matter. At least AK tells his account of what he's angry about. I'm sure he, just like Gemini-supporters, tells us exactly what he wants us to know when he wants us to know it, but there it is. There's always more information we members are told. I suggest that our members keep that in mind.

I don't know the situation in China, or how factories choose whose models they make. But I know it's long past time for angry competitors and partisans to stop turning every NG thread into a toxicity fest. I will be very happy to do my $.02 worth of clarifying the situation for newer members. They may be uanaware of the politics of manufacturers and their partisans that get aired here.

If moving factories out of China would help, once it's feasible, all the better.

Jim

I think NG has some fixing to do on their 747sp tooling... The windowline is definitely too high and the nose isn't right either.

may be a few issues here and there but put it next to the hueg turd that is the Gemini SP and it;s obvious which is the better.

and another thing - QC

Here's the Gemini American B737-800

And here's the NG

Yes, a single NG 737 had one loose rear stabilizer, but 100% of the shipment of Gemini AA B737-800's had at least 4 loose parts.

When my customer open their box to a jingling metal confetti of wings gears, and stabilizers, they aren't happy. On the other hand, I have never had an NG with more than 2 loose parts.

Hi Mr. Prairie,

Quick question, as a retailer what do you do when you discover some of the shipment is damaged like with the AA model above? Do you fix them yourself if it’s a simple fix? Just curious as if a large batch is damaged how do you fulfil preorders?

I always order more than I take in pre-orders, most manufacturers fulfill at least 80% of what I ask for usually, with one exception. If there's no paint chips or noticeable damage after repairing, then the models usually go to my friends and local buyers who know that they were broken, if there's noticeable damage they go as scratch and dent. On the 3-4 occasions that I ran out of pre-ordered models, I purchased them myself from other retailers or from eBay to fulfill all of my pre order promises. In the Case of the Gemini AN-124, where I received 2 out of the several dozen I asked for, I had to go to some extreme lengths to get them, but thankfully my country doesn't have an extradition treaty with Taiwan, so as long as I don't travel too much, I'll be fine.

Models like the Gemini Volaris A321 and AA B737-800, which I can only assume are testbeds for the new strategy of using expired honey mustard sauce packets from McDonalds in lieu of real glue, are different. There's no possible way to get them to the customer intact unless I pull out all of the parts and glue them in myself. I can only sell them as build it yourself diecast model kits, and write them off as a loss, part of doing business.

Back in the day of active Schabak collecting, I had a retailer who actually worked for KLM and had a small scale-model-business as a side branch. He was really dedicated to customer service and to his products. The words of FrenjaminBanklin reminded me of him quite much. Very rare in the 1980’s, almost impossible to find these days.

Whatsoever, due to the immediate return of the one who asked for respecting his privacy, I’d suggest that the moderators delete any posting that is not strictly dealing with the topic and related questions/answers in a reasonable manner. I’m well aware of the fact that this will eliminate almost every posting by AK and DA that is not dealing with praising their own brands or products - but I prefer reasonable and grown-up discussion over their kindergarten-like behavior.

Thanks for taking care, Crownvic.

Not excusing anyone here...Yes those batch of 737's suffered from poor glue attachment at the factory. It is a total shame that most came in like that. Unfortunately the problem wasn't discovered until after the initial batches (which are in sealed cartons) were sent to the dealers. Once discovered, all the remaining models were pulled from inventory and not for sale. Fortunately, in most cases, if there was no fuselage damage it was an easy fix to reattach the wings and elevators.

Also, the retailers who purchased from the distributor were all credited for damaged models once returned.

I'd like to believe this but I bought AA chromes later at least a few months after they came out.

Doesn't seem to be an isolated incident, either. Same thing happened with Volaris release, most of them fell apart. Funny how the JC wings models are made in the same factory as GJ but the same thing hasn't happened with any JC releases.

Perhaps GJ should use the same glue that JC uses. GJ can raise the wholesale cost of their models by 2 cents to cover this cost. Most retailers would be happy with this tradeoff I am sure.

You mean the rise of the GJ price hasn't covered a different sort of glue? In fact, I would have thought a price rise would have included some sort of glue.

Didn't you know there were different tiers of glue used? AC & GJ both use Elmer's White glue on models going to DAC members, so we can be entertained by the monthly whining and belly aching.

Carry on!

I've had a JC China Airlines A350 'carbon fiber' arrive, - much to my suprise - with both wings detached and a faulty nose gear.
Not sure if it was a one off, because I don't see many collectors who buy these models on forums/social media.

The shot Angle of the sample model picture is not consistent with the real thing you used as an example, is that a consideration?

The cheatline is about right--maybe just a touch high, but about right. The nose cone is the problem: it is definitely low, and needs to be reshaped higher. See how the slope down from the cockpit is too steep. Compare with this photo of a PA 747SP.

I have the model on order and will get it, but NG needs to get this problem corrected.

When we compared the head of the model with the actual plane, we didn't see anything wrong.

The angle of the photo is different ALSO if you look closely the nose on the NG is much lower. Look at the bottom of the blue line compared to the Ng model.

First of all, thanks for checking back, folks. It always is an enrichment to have a dedicated manufacturer here with personal comments and feedback (and acceptance of those).

To my mind, the NG Boeing 747SP is an excellent model and way beyond 1/400 standard. That being said, I think there might be a point concerning the cheatline/cabin windows which are either some micrometers too high or going slightly upwards towards the curved nose of the aircraft. As ‘micrometers’ indicates, it is absolutely negligible. As for the photos, I would suggest that we concentrate on our own knowledge and ability to judge instead of comparing pictures and of 1/1 aircraft and 1/400 models with lines drawn on and taken from different angles. Particularly NG does not have any reason to do so.

That's why I mentioned in the other thread that I couldn't see anything wrong with the nose!! This is the proven clarification right here!!

Madridista is 100% right with his post above. As has been said 1000’s of times before, you cannot rely on photos, all are going to be at an ever so slightly oblique angle when taken. You need actual working drawings/blueprints, and Pantone references for colour. That’s it. I understand that for the NG TriStar, actual drawings were made available, hence the super accurate mould that resulted.

The window line on the 1:1 747 sits above the centre of the nose cone, and when looking carefully at NG’s artwork graphics, this does appear to tally up quite accurately. A trick of the eye perhaps? I’ve gone too and fro with all the comments, but now after really looking at it again, I think it’s ok. Let’s put the micro-meters away before we all go insane 😂

Remember that awesome front profile pic Phantom posted a while ago, of the Iran Air release? It looked absolutely spot on to me, I could almost hear it coming down the runway looking at that.

Don’t you see how the cheat line in the real life image, goes slightly downward too? Stop trying to nitpick NG with images in different angles and not even being realistic!

You know, I love NG models and their awesomely realistic looks. Just recently received a C919 and love it - don't know anything about the real deal though.
Their 747SP - love it. But just not from the side. Everytime I'm looking at one on my shelf I know that this is NOT what a 747 nose should be like. And I know I can trust my eyes and graphical mind.
They now moved a few shelves down so that I don't see them side on and they look great.

I think I have an idea of what the issue is, will try to capture with photoshop later. There's hope NG will see it too - if not for a retool but then forca possible 747Classic.

Ok, as I didn't have too much time, here's a quick GIF to show what I think is the issue - and I remember this exact issue has been discussed way back with the first release though I didn't see it too back then.
Please note that my quick shop of the nose is in no way 100% accurate. It's just meant to give you an idea.

My father always told me "son, never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed man" . As I read this thread, I an reminded of those words, and keep them close to my heart.

On a more on-topic note - the real sleeper models this month were the Chinese 737's that finally arrived. Worth the wait and beautiful! I am told that such production delays should become more rare in the future as NG's additional production capacity comes into play.
