The Thai flaps down 747 looks absolutely stunning, beginning of a new era in 400 scale IMO. I know flaps down 777 and 787 have been around from JC for a while now, but the queen has been somewhat overlooked over the past few years, certainly on a decent mould and not the drivel (referring to their 747) Phoenix have been spewing out.
Thanks for sharing, can’t wait for mine to arrive!!!!
As strange as a model appears with gear down up on a stand (w/out extended flaps and slats), it is equally strange to see one on the tarmac with fully extended flaps and slats. Never happen - just sayin', Doug

What about just after vacating a runway?
It'd be cool if they made a 747 with flaps 20 or 10 options for takeoff configs.

Never say never, Doug. The type I worked on had them always extended on ground (maint being an exception) - though it was far from being a 747.
But I agree. If fully extended then on a stand and with wing flex.
No one notices on the 747 Krueger flaps (even on G200), that they're missing the detail of the lines which separate slat no. 1, from 2 ect ect...? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CF-z42YwQX0

No model is perfect...

A consistent/standard error (ie a simple detail is forgotten on all 747 LE slats even in 1/200 scale) is easier to fix than random errors (eg, a batch of models being produced with the window line slightly out of place), or a rego being printed upside down on 1-3 models.
It's why random errors are so dangerous in the aviation industry because humans are not always consistent (eg a pilot not timing his/her flare right on their 1000th landing on a 737 leading to landing gear damage, while all the past landing's have been perfect).
IMHO the LE slats do not look realistic without this detail, it would be the same if a manufacturer ignored putting in the flight control details on the wings, and this detail on the LE slats has been 100% forgotten about.

Unless they're in or outside the Maintenance Hangar!

This beauty arrived in the post this morning. It instantly earned a place as one of my favourite models (I can never choose just one!) and I really can’t find much wrong with it.
I agree the slats (Krueger flaps) could be seen to be separated with indentation lines. I think this will be an easy fix bearing in mind they are able to replicate the intricacies of the triple slotted fowler flaps and even the fuel dump nozzles on the trailing edge. However, this really does not detract from the appeal of this model.
The printing is excellent, window line correct height and the Thai logo on the winglets is very sharp, comparable to the BigBird version. One of the best features IMO are the engines. These are my biggest gripe on Gemini jumbos with unrealistic intakes and pylons. These CF6s have been replicated brilliantly with nice attention to fan blades with careful application of sliver to leading edges and spinner. The intake lip is even a separate moulding giving a nice crisp line and overcoming any paint running over onto the main nacelle. Intake depth seems accurate too.
Will let the pictures to the talking. Apologies for the bad lighting but eh, this is the UK!

Just curious: Is the frontgear strut of your model a little bent forward?

Just saying: with a straight frontgear and the inner engine pylons being a little reduced in size (so the engines 2+3 sit a little higher) the model would be perfect. And I agree - the attention JC payed to the engines is incredible.
Just curious: Is the frontgear strut of your model a little bent forward?
Your eagle eye is correct Sir, it is indeed slightly bent forward by approximately 20 degrees. Had a similar issue with the JC Virgin millennium Falcon however this was bent backwards. I managed to carefully bend it back to proper perpendicular position. Should I muster up the courage to do the same with this Thai though?😄 Not sure if it is worth the risk.
That baby is looking sweet!!
And I'm glad to see the engines are done correctly. I'm definitely an 'engine nut' so to me engines are extremely important to get right and these are looking very accurate! When a model is good all over but they screw the engines up, its a definite death knell for me. Perfect example is when Gemini botched up their GE CF-6's on the USAF E4-B! Frustrating to say the least!!

Yeah, that model would've been perfect if GJ used the CF6-50 tooling.
GJ thought the E4's had been retrofitted like the VC-25's?

GJ/JC Il-62 - can't remember how many I passed due to the engine issue as the Il-62 is one of my alltime holy grails..

Yeah I thought that too!! Bad research imo!!

I am pretty sure JC have your two suggestions ready for distribution, they are just not in general circulation yet. Great to see more of the beautiful Orchid livery. The JC 777 mould will set it off nicely 👌

What a strange comment as this happens everyday for every aircraft in the world before taking off and on landing on the runway / taxiways.
This 747 is a great model, thanks for sharing the pictures.

Haha thanks.
It's too bad that it's not advisable to swim in the water as it's very dirty and polluted with chemicals ect from all the factories and facilities on the bay,
I do dream of creating a 1/400 diorama of this beach spot one day, not sure how to go about it though, but these flap down 747's would look great with it though.
Is this a february/march release? Ebay says its already sold out.
That's a link to the listing I purchased recently. The TG 773, from what I heard, is an exclusive from that Collector Wings shop in Hong Kong. Since it was sold out at that shop's website, and even Waffle didn't have it listed, I went ahead and bought this one on eBay. Shipping was pretty expensive, but I figured this was the only chance. Who knows, eBay might get flooded with this B773 later

I can tell you that these will be available soon! Though can't vouch for the speed at which other retailers will get it of course
Haha thanks.

Aah no!!! The sad reality of Industry rearing its usual ugly head!!
Good idea about doing a diorama though, that would look cool, especially with those 'flaps down' models!

It's a little annoying that JC is not able to update their facebook page. That would be really helpful to figure out if this is official release or not.
