Default The Yakovlev Yak-42 by De Agostini

A few weeks ago I received my copy of the De Agostini Yak-42 from a Russian eBay seller. In some ways the model is excellent and in some ways it is toy-like so perhaps it is harsh giving it a full review but here are my thoughts anyway. I can't see any other Yaks being made soon so despite it's issues it is a welcome addition to my collection:

It's kind of cute, and in spite of what nitpickers and rivet counters might say, something nice to add to a collection.

No antennas??!! OMG!!

If you could get hold of the mould it'd be worthwhile making a run of Aeroclassics Yak-42s using it. The mould is decent enough - just the printing is poor.

For once I will agree with you. I got mine and it seats well next to your other Russian models

To this day I regret selling my 200 scale version purchased at Collectors Aircraft Models. I believe it was manufactured by Historic Models..

You can get 1/400 Yak 42 3D hard-plastic cut-out models for £15, also AN22 and Dassault Mercure.

Can't get anyone to custom-paint it unfortunately.

Favourite manufacturers - Aeroclassics ("just like a fine wine, they only get better with age"), also like El Aviador, and NG Models.
